Congratulations to Steve Steele for beating Bruce Kent in the final round to win Street Eliminator at the GS Nationals. It was run under the lights on Friday and it was awesome!

As an added note, Steve had a low battery and couldn't get his car started for the final round. Keeping with the "Class act" of the Bruce Kent/Dave Beniseck team, Dave allowed Steve and his crew to take as much time as he needed to get the car started. Plus this was in the burnout box no less!
Hats off to the "California Team":beer :

Best ET's in GSE were in the 10.20's at over 130......
Jim Rodgers went some 10.20's at aroud 132 earlier in the week

There were about 5 cars in each class,I left mine at home due to the threat of weather(Never gna do that again:ball: )
There was a pretty neat white 68 from Illinois in GSP,Mike Zaffino,he went 10.00 at 134,then,10.01 at 113,but that was it because his throttle cable broke. It was really good seeing a new car in the class, might have some 9.70's in it.

It was a Turner/Cagle final with Turner winning 9.67 to 9.76.
All I kept mumbling on the ride home was how my car has been in the 9.60's at Norwalk this spring, don't know that I would've won,but I would've been "in the hunt".

The only therapy I could think of when I got home was to go racing......5 runs at Norwalk last night were 9.68 to 9.72,went 3 rounds.

  4. Bummer you didn't take your car along, Gary :( .

Sure would be great to see a pic of Mike's 68! :Brow:

Thanks, Jeff . Iwould like to thank all of the people that helped or tried to help at the starting line get the car going . I couldnt see what all went on but was told it started raining battery packs back their. For sure want to say thanks to Bruce Kent & Dave Beniseck for the class act. And yes i did buy a new battery lol .

That jumper pack storm was one of the classiest things I've ever seen. My buddy Engie Bauza even tried to get into the act with my jumper pack, but it wouldn't crank the car over fast enough. I'm glad someone in the crowd had a stronger one and got him fired up.:TU: Total class by the Benisek team! Congrats on the win, Steve!

    Jim,
I may not be exact but I should be close in that there was 6 cars in the class.

I believe the final round was a 10.34 for Steve and a 10.62 for us.

As for qualifying I think the 10.30 range covered the majority of the cars.

Although I hated to lose it couldn't have been to nicer people than Steve and Jack.

I think you showed the whole Buick racing community what a class act you are by giving them all the time they needed. Also I'd like to say a big thanks to you guys just for hauling that car all the way to B.G. for us Easteners to check out.

Just a little feedback if you'd like it. I was standing just 10' behind your car in the finals. The waterbox guy had you lined up so deep in the water that I think you slung about 3 quarts of water into your wheel wells when you started your burnout. I don't know if that's why you slowed up or not, I'm just thankful the car went straight.

Hope to see your car next year.
