TexasT Texas, where are you from

Wow, eight pages and a bunch of time I'll never get back.

Nothing posted that hasn't been expressed numerous times before yet nothing has changed. I will say that even my local track is not near what it was in the late eighties/early nineties. The staging lanes were bursting at the seems just like the GS Nats was. Sadly paradigms shift and interests wane. It is exciting to know that there are others out there that share my enthusiasm for the Buick. To all that contribute to pulling off the national events my hat is off. Just putting on a local baseball/softball tournament is a hair pulling nightmare. I do not envy you. Keep up the great work.

Some people LOVE to keep bringing this up year after year. It has to do with issues they perceived years ago, or maybe they didnt get enough attention, and I suppose they still have a burr under their saddle for some reason. Most of these folks havent even been to the Nationals in many years, but they still love piling on when someone conjurs up some BS from the past about the GS Nationals dieing. Those of us who actually go and participate every year know the event isnt dieing. Sure it isnt as big as it once was, but with the economy, fuel prices, work, kids, weather, the cars getting older and more expensive, the clubmembers getting older, more events some of which are localized taking away from the premier National event etc etc etc, then its easy to see why the event isnt what it once was. But some people cant see the trees for the forest! Look at Buicks at Bristol, Indy Buick Horsepower (whayever that was?), now those events were supposed to be the next big thing to put the GS Nationals under. But where are they and their promoters now?? Even the BPG has changed hands and organizers/BOD numerous times, and they have certainly had their fair share of troubles in the past. But guess what? Richard and the GS Nationals are still there and still going strong. Now thats dedication!:)

    Jim,
For your information the (BPG) BUICK PERFORMANCE GROUP is a club.
It is not owned by anyone as is the case with the GSCA.

We choose to vote in or out our Board of Directors as to get fresh input into our club.
Our members have a say in what goes on and how the BPG is run. We are approachable and listen to our members and do our best to address any problems or suggestions.

This is an area that needs attention by the GSCA in order to stay successful and survive.

I thought it was made clear that no club/event is trying to take down any other club/event.
We need the GSCA and all Buick events and do hope that it will be with us for years to come.

    Ron,

I dont know how you can give an honest opinion about the GSCA or the Nationals since you havent been a member for years, nor have you attended the event in years. "Hear say" by the same ole same ole is the only place you can be getting your info.

Besides, you are always one of the first to pile on when anything comes up negative about the GSCA. Take for instance Garrisons thread on the GSCA site about the Beech Bend restroom facilities. As usual you were sure to pile right on. So you saying no one is trying to take down any event may not be exactly true.

On the other hand, I'm very familiar with the BPG and how it is organized. Good for the BPG that they allow their members such a luxury as to vote in the BOD which most certainly has benefits as well as hindrances. As does the makeup of the GSCA. But the GSCA cant be all that bad because they have survived and prospered for over 30 years! No other Buick club/organization or whatever you want to call them can come close to saying that. But that was not the point I was making. My point was only that no club, business, event etc is immune from controversy or problems. But just because the GS Nationals doesnt have 1000 cars going down the track for 5 days or 500 show cars in the show field doesnt mean that the club or event is dieing. The BPG doesnt have 1000 cars either, in fact they are very far from it, but Wayne sure didnt make a thread asking if the BPG was dieing. I find that interesting and slightly humorous at the same time, but I still cant help making note of it.

    Jim,

I don't even know why I waste my time responding to your posts.

True, I am not a member of the GSCA and for good reason, I have chosen to move on to something that suits my taste in clubs.

Since you like to be the self appointed GSCA spokesman I'll show you one of the reasons why I quit the club.

I never post PMs because they are just that (PRIVATE MESSAGES), but this time I'd like all to see what type of person you really are and post "YOUR" PM just like you like to do.

This was PMed to me on 8/26/2011 and was captioned....

    TURD
No one ever spoke to me like this in any other club I ever belonged to, and neither will you.

BYE *JIMMY WHEEZE* (*I think we all remember that !!!)

I have read and re-read this thread. Not because I find it entertaining, but because I, as the BPG Race Director, would like to see where I might improve our race program. Not because I love the politics that get thrown around, but because I have a genuine love for Buicks and our participants. Not because I want to get in the middle of a "us vs them" argument, but because I personally take every complaint about our race program to heart. This is where I think some of the GS National attendees are feeling a little ripped off. Notice I said "some"! It's my belief that the Buick community is like a big family, everyone wants to feel like their opinions and thoughts are important and everyone who has something to say, wants to be heard. If there's no one there to listen, then that's less motivation to go the next year. That's true of ANY event. You have to make participants know that they ARE important to the Buick world, that they will be listened to, and their thoughts and ideas should fall on open minds. I think all our clubs and all our event leaders need to always remember "without our participants, our events would be big empty parking lots!!"

Quoted from Mr. Rodgers ""But the GSCA cant be all that bad because they have survived and prospered for over 30 years!""

That's great and it's quite an accomplishment, but Mr. Rodgers, the BPG has survived much longer than most thought as well. :) And yes the BPG has changed leadership, but when one person gets burnt out, we find replacements to keep the blood lively! Some things you just can't control, but you make the best of what you are dealt!

I didn't make up that PM you sent me, the MODs can look it up as it is still in my account.
Look at yourself before you try to make others look bad.

Personal attacks will only show everyone your true colors which we have all known for years.

Now can we get back on subject or don't you really care about the GSCAs future relationship with the Buick community.
