Congratulations to Oliver Colteryahn in winning the GSE class in Bowling Green at the 25th anniversary of the GS Nationals. Ollie edged out Bruce Kent in an awesome side by side 9 second and some change final round. That is the first time a final round went in the 9's. On Saturday Ollie went on to win runner up in the Quick 16 Big Block class! Awesome!
I have to say Great job to all that attended. This year was the fastest and one of the biggest fields ever. We had a few new comers to the class, Jeff Kitchen, all the way from Florida, Lawrence Clark, from the windy city and Jim Rodgers from Georgia, who has been a big promoter of the class over the years. Steve Steele, who has won the class the last two years, had the challenge of driving two cars this year. Tim Haefner was unable to attend due to a last minute obligation, and since his car was already in Bowling Green, arrangements were made to get it down the track. Gary Laughlin even came in to make few runs. Bobb Makley was trying to work out the bugs in his brand new car. By the 7th run or so on the new car (Saturday, too late for GSE competition) he was able to go rounds in bracket 1 dialing a conservative 10.10.

    Jeff,

We dont know each other(I was the one that asked your lane preference for Garrison), but was there a little problem on the starting line first round ? I wouldn't have thought you would just let Mike leave on ya like that, lol. Seriously...........

This was my first time getting to see these cars up close and in person. And watching them run, ummmmmmmm HOLYYYYYYY. Yall are really gettin' it done with this class. Almost wish I hadnt bought this tube car after watching yall go. But then again, with my budget, I'd be a first round duck for everyone haha. Congrats on the turnout, it was a BLAST to just watch. And I am still pickin dirt and rubble outa my jaw from the mid 9's that were passed out by some. For those that have never seen this class go at an event, DO IT !!!! At least watch once, it is AWESOME !!!!!!!!!

The GSE cars are simply amazing, even the slowest cars in the class are impressive to me. Good job guys. :TU:

I am sad to say that I had no time to make it to BG again this year. I love watching this class run and would love to compete someday when time allows. I am lucky enough to watch Bobb and Jeff run locally, they do very well in the 10.0 index class at our local track against brand x cars, mostly nitrous and supercharged cars. Bobb was the points winner in this class last year.

Thanks to Bobb and Jeff for running a great class. Yeah, I was the new guy and easily the slowest in the field, but I enjoyed talking to each one of the other competiters. I never had this much fun bracket racing! I also got an education. Believe me, my partner and I already had our winter planned before we got home! Lord willing, we'll be back next year with a bigger gun. I just hope Gary's 9.45 doesn't become the norm next year!!

Thanks again guys. See you all next year. Have fun. I've got work to do. :3gears:

I 'm glad everyone had fun this year Jeff and I worked really hard to try and make it fun and to get a few more cars in. I hope that gary's quick run doesn't scare anyone away it just takes a little miss hap and it all can change traction, red lite most anything. we are going to leave the base rules as they were this year or plan to any way. we are looking at opening up pro street to a outlaw class with power adders we just have to put details together. And figure out how to police it a little. I have some minor concerns with GSE but nothing that will affect the cars at all. Jeff and I will keep you posted on these later after some dilberation.

    Jeff
I for one don't plan on making any huge changes in the car. I will take the time to get stuff right and get the car working but I don't have any intention to chase after Gary. just to much money and to many more chances of seeing parts on the track. At that power level thing just go boom way to easy for me. But it sure is cool to watch someone else do it. I hope we see all the guy's that played this year and a few new ones next. I'll be a mid pack car and just have a good time. I'm glad you were able to park close to us jeff. I just wish I would have had more time to just shoot the bull with you. Give me a call anytime and we can stratigize for you next year :TU: . I might have some tricks up my sleeve for you  or not.

Bobb Makley, yeah I know, I pussed out, you guy's are to fast for me and I did not hear the call, yada, yada, My point is this, Thank You Sir, for not only fighting for this class, supporting it, let alone building a brand new car after the Cecil County ordeal. You Sir, are the reason I respect the Buick People so much, I commend your efforts to jump back in so fast. You Sir, Are truly, "Going Fast With Class" you and Amy are troopers in the Buick Community, and Finishline Motorsports is by far an exlemplary Company that supports the Buick Community!

    thanks, Bruce

Gary's car was amazing to watch. I kept expecting him to come around me in the semi's. Can't say that I have ever seen a car in this class so explosive off the line. I'm looking forward to seeing him back next year.

I'm looking for anyone who may have taken a picture "suitable for framing" of Oliver Colteryahn and myself launching together. I would be happy to pay for a copy.

I have always felt that this is the class and the cars to look at for anyone wanting to build a car. If a particular part is on the car there is a reason, it works. This cuts down on the cost of building a car. Simply copy what is already there. This class demonstrates that you can go quick through mufflers, with interiors and on 10 inch tires.

I will be there next year for sure Big Jim. My car looks and sounds good but I will not be running in the big dog class!!
By the way thanks for selling me the parts cheap! If it wasn't for that I may still be working on it.
See you next year son, Frank
