I ALWAYS use the NAPA AR200 relays. They are 60amp continuous duty relays for power seats, windows & door locks. They will never go bad like some of the lessor cost relays including Hella's. Do it once & do it overkill.
On my '64 Riv. I have two low beams that are 90 watts each = 180. Two high beams that are 155 watts. So lows come out to 180 watts & highs come out to 620 watts ( 4x155=620) for a total of 800 watts. I mounted my relays behind the battery just behind the radiator support. The run of wiring at the longest is 4 feet. The stock wiring has no problem handling the load. It's been this way for 30+ years & I've seen no ill effects to the wiring. Driving from Vermont to Ct. at night & when I got home just for the heck of it I felt the wiring to the right side which wasn't even warm to the touch or the terminals to the lights.

You need a BIG alternator to run those bad boys, Tom!

What the heck do you have for headlamps?
