Too all of the guys and girls drag racing 455 out there. Have you ever had a grayish, graphite looking haze in you oil after you drained it. I have 12 passes on a 455 and everytime I drain the oil it haze a graphite looking haze floating on the top of it. You can only see it if you hold a light up to it. I have a magnetic drain plug in the motor and it is clean after each time I drain the oil, but the oil itself has that grayish haze in it. There is nothing else in the oil at all. I use Mobile 1 oil and thought maybe it was just the oil causing my problem. Just looking for some insight if anybody can help me. Thanks, Tony:Do No:

    Tony,

Is the color kind of marblie in the light, like it's folding around itself? Yeah I get the same thing with Kendall oil. Of course I just found out I had a lobe go flat so that may have tainted the problem.

Do you have aluminum heads or rods? I assume your oil pressure is good so you have no problems with your oil pump. Also, the motor is still new, so some of the assembly lube could be in the oil. Cut open the filter, squeeze the excess oil out of the element and then spread the element out and have a look see. Use a magnet to see if there is any iron present. Very fine aluminum can look sorta like what you are talking about. Let us know.
