Unless I'm mistaken, the modulator has no effect on full throttle shift points....just part throttle. As soon as the weather breaks, I plan on breaking out the black and decker and trying the four 1/4" hole trick........I'll keep you guys posted.

I had a B&M kit like Adam is playing with and got scared and returned it......I ain't going through all that BS with weights, clips and springs that's for sure.

cray1801 Too much is just right.

Adam, remember you can tweek the springs either by stretching or compression/coiling in the right direction. I'm not talking about a major change here. Just switching springs is often too big of a step. A scale, a couple of ~7/16" spacers (nuts) and a small flat plate (to bridge the spring and "feather touch" the spacers for force measurement) can sure help with spring force adjustments.

I have it done now...just in time fro American Idol:grin:

I swapped the yellow spring for the orange one.

1-2 shift: 4800 RPM (good for the stock cam, but will have to change whenI put the new one in)
    2-3 shift: 4400 RPM

Side note: Everyone is always asking me if I have a shift kit installed on my car... My answer: "Nope.." It has had a pretty stiff 1-2 shift since i bought it, but never thought twice about it. I inspected the old plate that came out in place of the new plate on the trans-go kit. Sure enough, the holes have been drilled!! I guess I DID have a shift kit in it. Now the car actually shifts softer than it did before I put the trans-go kit in. :Dou: Too bad I'm not ripping it apart again to drill the holes out more. I can live with it. It's got a very crisp shift though. I'm happy with it.

Adam, Glad you got it where you want it! (I got that h*nd* running, kind of...I'm fixin' to douse it in gasoline.)

What effect does all this have on part-throttle shifts, are they later too?

Yes it does, but not to the point of making a real difference. There was one time when I used the heavier blue spring with the 1 & 2 weights, and I could REALLY tell the shift pattern was much closer and earlier at part throttle...just driving down the street, I was instantly in 3rd gear:rant: I wanted to goose it a little and keep it revved in first, but it kicked up into 3rd so fast, I didn't have time to think:shock:

Hmm...Just driving around (part throttle) I'd really like to get my THM-350 to stay in first a little longer, it likes to go 1-2 real fast, then make the engine puuuuuuuuull in 2nd.

Do I tweak the Modulator, or Governor? :Do No:

What's going on here, am I missing some most important information??? :puzzled: My car slides right into third after just a couple of yards and I barely even feel the shifts. I think I only drive my car in third, but when you're on it heavy it keeps it in first, but until when?? Hmmm.... I'll have to look into this..

Sounds like your modulator spring is weak...if your tranny has been rebuilt, stick an allen wrench into the end where the vacuum hose goes - it may well be adjustable.

If not, head on down to your local parts store and get an adjustable modulator, they run about 10-15 bucks and have a dramatic effect on shifting.

I need to back mine off a turn, it shifts pretty hard at light throttle.

Okay, I have my 2-3 right at 5000rpm. My 1-2 is still to late.
What can I do to adjust the 1-2 and not the 2-3??

    TH350, 455, and 3.23 gears

Change 1 spring at a time. Try a stiffer spring on one side.

WTB complete 4 speed set up LOL

Well I am done for today.
Yellow and green springs shift to late.
    Yellow and blue 1-2 4800 2-3 4700.
May need two green springs to get 5000 rpm on both??
Kit only has one green spring.
I am running one OE weight and one #2 weight. #2 is next heavier than OE one. May try Both OE weights, or grind a little off the OE weight.
    Open for suggestions
Thanks for the help, Larry I knew you would be there.
