Here are some pics of the rear - Painted 2 coats of POR-15, then POR-15 Self Etching primer, Then POR 15 Chassis coat. The C clip eliminators are installed, T/A cover (which had to be tweaked to fit- the bottom bolt headed in on a slight angle and wouldn't seat right. I shimmed it and got it to work) and new Lakewood BFL posi gear oil. Just have to install brake stuff and and install in the car with the control arms I boxed myself. . .moving right along:cool:

:bla: Called T/A about having to tweak one of their covers...I have a BOP cover which, the bottom bolt hole is about .050" higher than a 10 bolt Chebby. Obviously the only difference between the 2 covers-I found the hard way:TU: . They told me it was ok to widen the hole like I did and fab my own washer/shim. Threw in a little extra RTV blue to be on the safe side - all should be fine.

-How does one put the bushing for the upper control arms on the top of the rear housing???? I don't want to go primitive and take a hammer and a block of wood to them, there has got to be a better way?:Do No:

I have a pan & pick up Ross, but thank you.

Got the brakes done today and painted the new Drums. Hopefully the new control arm hardware will be here by saturday.

I bought a 10x20 Canopy Garage. I should have that next week. Saturday I will pick up some pallets, Tar paper and the OSB from Lowes. I plan to put Tar paper under the pallets to block moisture. A buddy gave me the idea. I will have some pics of the rear in the car and the new temporary garage soon.

Yaccy, the way that I did the upper bushings was to make up a tool that will push and pull from a piece of 1/2 '' all thread and then use a piece of pipe and some thick washers to force the old bushing out and of course reverse the proceedure to force the new ones in. the all thread will go thru the center and then with the washers and nuts on each side you can put enough pressure with your wrenches to force the bushings. Be sure to soak them in some pb blaster first and then put some wheel bearing grease on the new ones and lube the housing its self before forcing them back in.
[I hope I am making at least a little sense here]

Doc - I used a 3 lbs. lump hammer (mini sledge) a piece of 2 1/2" conduit pipe and took my time 1 nice hard hit at a time till it seated. Had my nephew lean against the rear so it didn't fall of the saw horses (he loved that job). I was going to use a mosnter C clamp with a piece of steel over a 3" pipe, but I could not get enough leverage on the screw. The lump hammer worked out great, just chipped a little paint which I touched up.:TU:

Hey Folks update 1/19/08 - I cut out the cancer in the D/S Wheel well. Used my needle scaler to chip off all the old undercoating. Fabricatied and welded the outter wheel well. Welded the inner wheel well using a lap weld. I did all the welding inside the wheel well so I didn't have to grind the welds down. All of it will be covered with Duplicolor undercoating. Painted all the metal with POR-15. Here are a few pics. Oh yea made a patch in the rocker where there was a little cancer. I will keep ya'all posted

Yep, looks good. Now if you will squirt some motor oil down in there AFTER you do the painting, it wont rust any more.

Yea, I figure once the 1/4's are done it should be a little smoother. I will pull the doors and front clip off to do those repairs. Will make it easirer to patch the floor and box the frame with the door out of the way. :TU:

Seriously- Those photoshops of the car are awsome. That's what I had in my head since I saw the car in 2 feet of uncut grass.

Welcome back Eric. Let me know when you want to stop on down, hopefully winter will leave early this year and I can get back out there on the car soon.

I just picked up the interior for my car. I am really stoked, got some really nice buckets and rear seat from a 67 LaMans. The seat are in pristine shape. No need to recover them or anything, one small tear in the pass seat but it can easily be fixed. I just got over the flu, so no work this week but I will begin again a little tomorrow, cutting out the cancer from passenger side inner wheel well and chipping off all the old undercoating. Like I did on the drivers side. Well I keep em coming:beers2:
