Hey guys, is $650. a fair price for a '72-'76 455 complete from carb to pan. It has a long tail shaft 400 with it but that will not fit my '66 skylark so its just yard art to me. The guy claims it ran great when it came out of the car but he doesn't remember what kind of car it came out of (hmmm).

Its an hour or more drive to look at it so I'd like any input as to whether its worth my time.

    Thanks Again,
    Mike (msc66)

Seems a bit steep to me. $250-300 for a motor and the trans (which you don't even want) is not worth more than $100-150. No matter how good they used to run, we are going to rebuild them anyay. IMHO

    Skip,

Yeh, I haven't really started my search for a motor yet but I just happened accross this in the paper. You're right, I would rebuild it. New pistons to up the compression and probably better flowing heads so yeh, I guess that does seem kind of high.

    Thanks for the input!

    Mike,

I'm in Atlanta and know where you can get 455 motors for $150 complete. Call me and I'll tell you where.
