    Yep in norkA. I probably seen you at Norwalk if you ever went there. I am sure you went to D42 I went there a lot.

    I wonder if you could beat on a LS motor for 22 years like I did with this 350 Buick.

    You know, I put that nitrous kit on there back in 2005 Time is going faster than me.

    My motor is nothing special other than forged pistons, 73 rods, more compression, and a good oil system.

    Is all the excitement there for the heads since we have been put on the back burner again?

    Gotta wonder, how many of those Rover heads got sold since they were done first before the 350 head.

    Guy, You were the pioneer!

    Maybe a 350 prototype aluminum block is close to going on the front burner now. We might be almost 79 before it's released though!:rolleyes:
    Keep your fingers crossed!:)

    I hear the aluminum 350 block is right behind the aluminum nailhead block. :cool:

    Start buying up aluminum wheels, grab a Craig's free oil burner unit, make a sand mold and get to it :D

    While most of the guys on this forum are more into drag racing. Power is power. Yeah, a handling car would need to be set up different from a drag car. Oil pan baffling at least. I have thought of the LS swap on my wagon more than once. For me I comes down to is budget. The cost of the motor itself, then the extra BS to put it in an A body, Headers alone at 800+ then motor mounts, proper oil pan for the A body. then the modification to the fuel system for a FI system. Then the wiring to make it run, perform and get the gas mileage expected. I figured about 12-15K and that is for a used motor. crate motor add 5-10K. the the Manual trans at 5K. I am not saying the LS doesn't perform I liked the 6.0 in my 04 Denali it still ran great at 200K miles.
    IMHO Stick with the Buick motor, buck the trend with just about every other USC car running a LS. Put an emphasis on the suspension, drive train, and Brakes. Then practice practice practice. An experienced driver can make any car perform and take out higher HP cars. It's the driver who wins not the car.

    Guy, BTW. While I didn't have the turbo V6 in my 70 GS. It did have a 77 V6 in it. Gutless wonder. I had one person at the 83 GSCA nationals look at my engine and say, " I bet this is the only car here that got more than 12 mpg."

    At the light with a killer 60 ft time. So if you want a killer 350 Buick on the street then pop in that 3500 convertor and get that rpm to 4 grand right off the bat and bang it at 6800, 6100 without the SP3, Their day is done, smacked plenty of 455's that way, they will catch me on top with their mph, but I got that fender... and that door out of the hole.

    and don't forget those MT DR's because that is the only way to hold it to the ground, you can forget the stock tires.

    What did you to get your 350 to live at 6800 RPM? I thought I was pushing mine at 6,000 RPM lol. My build 10.5:1 balanced, stock heads just oversized valves, SP3 intake, hydraulic roller cam 230/237 110lsa,roller rockers, 1 3/4 headers, havent ben able to use it yet but a 150 shot as well. I hoping that the new heads that are coming out would help the engine pull a little more rpm, but was also scared to shift anymore than 6000 maybe I shouldnt be.

    I haven't spun it to 6800 yet. But it was spun to 6400 with a TA510 cam and the old TA Stage 1 DP manifold, it would spin to 6200 easily. I later changed the cam to a Lunati cam 230-245 @.050 507-502 lift with 1.55 rockers I use 1.6 TA rollers. Now this cam did tend to give up at 6 grand, that was the first thing I noticed when I changed the cam. My motor is balanced also with forged pistons, 73 rods, and running a 10.6 comp. My heads have been ported too with larger valves.

    I did this to get a little more bottom end and this worked but did give up at the top. The 510 cam really needed about a 3800 stall convertor and or a 411 gear for that cam. I am running 28" tires and a 3.73 gear. I can go back to this much cam now just need the 411 and that loose 3500 convertor I used for a while that one kicked butt could foot brake it to 3 grand, it launched.

    So now I change to the SP3 late this summer and when I went out I spun the engine to 6200 and felt like it could keep going but I know that cam is giving it up and the 510 cam would scream past 6200. Plus and a big plus my engine is over 20 years old now with all the same parts. so would it be ok I do not know.

    I am sure I can go to 6500 but I want to use another cam to try this, I have a solid lifter in mind here.

    Keep this thread going! If I can get a 350 in my 62 with out building a whole new frame. I'm going 350 buick not and looking back.
    I caught some good news I guess the 215 motor mount and 350 are in the same location. So the 350 should fit. Trans will not but thats ok.

    One thing we would like to try on my son's 372 stroker is the FiTech GO EFI 8 PA.
    Can use the timing control with the non-vacuum MSD distributor, and have perfect fuel mixture for nitrous, or up to 25 lbs of booshhhht!

    Seeing how your engine is built already you probably don't want to redo it as a sbb stroker using nascar take out rods, the next best thing would be to swap in a set of these rods;

    http://www.taperformance.com/products.asp?cat=463

    You should be good to 7,500 RPM with those! Spin to win, it don't pay if you don't pay!

    Those rods should be close to the weight of the rods you already have if you have the '73 and newer ones IIRC?(would be nice if they posted the actual weight of the rods instead of just the weight tolerance so you could know for sure though) The weights might be posted on the Molnar website, the company that makes them for TA?

    With some good rods you'll be setup to tap into the SP3's potential and seeing how you have a roller cam, you can swap in a set of solid roller lifters(set lash to .010") to get those RPMs up higher as long as your springs are up to the task.

    To save a bunch of $$ on roller lifters you can get a set of these made in USA sbc solid roller lifters;

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/HOWARDS-SBC-Small-Block-Chevy-SportMax-Vertical-Bar-Mechanical-Roller-Lifters/111883809245?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

    You will have to do a little bit of simple pencil grinding to make the slot about an 1/8" closer to the other lifter and they should drop right in ready to spin to win. Unfortunately the ones made for the sbb are priced more than twice as much as the ones in the link is why decided to go this way so I can still afford to play.

    COOL car! GL

    I vaguely remember that car. I'll bet I have a picture of it, but it would be tough to find.
