I'm trying to find out if the rear spoiler GM # 1 1237533 is correct for 1970 applications or is it correct for 71 - 72 applications. I've read that the spoilers were different between the years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Steve

That parts number applies to '70-72. It superceeds the original part number, issued for '70 cars.

My Ref shows that # for 70-72

But it also states that it supersedes #1235717. So I would assume sometime in the 70 model year, or AFTER, GM switched to the 2nd #. I think I have heard 70 is different, so GM most likely made that change after 70 for replacement parts only. :Brow:

    I thought I said that.

And if I'm not mistaken, the service replacement part Matt refers to is heavier than the original '70 spoiler necessitating different trunk torsion bars. I know I've read that service bulletin, complete with torsion bar part numbers, in one of the GS facts and Figures books.

You may want to consider that if you're adding a new spoiler or replacing the original '70 spoiler. I'll look up the numbers for the torsion bars if you're interested.

    Hope this helps.
