    Hello all,
I'm rebuilding my AC with a mix of new and old parts. Going to use the A6 compressor, a VIR eliminator and new condenser. I am also making all my hoses with AC hose and fittings from Aeroquip to hold in the R134a. The VIR eliminator kit came with a few fittings that I will need to use, but they are crimp-on fittings. Most of the fittings I'll be using from Aeroquip. My question is whether or not anyone who has used the Aeroquip AC hose knows if I can crimp over it - is all AN6 AC hose the same ID and OD?

The ID and OD specs are listed here, but I am not sure if I should crimp right over the stainless braided part or if I need to strip that off first. Or for that matter, if the OD is the wrong size to begin with and I'm pretty much screwed.

Has anyone used this stuff before and knows if I can do this or not?

I might have found a male end that I need to complete my hose assemblies, but nothing that says what ID the hose is supposed to be...

(it says aeroquip in the listing but it's really Eaton - which owns Aeroquip anyhow)

    Vehicle is a '73 LeSabre originally with a 350, now with a 455.

Does anyone know what the original fill amount (oz.) would have been for R12? My understanding is to use about 80% of that in R134a to get started. I'll use a little less because my new condenser is a little smaller than the original.

I will be replacing the compressor oil with Ester oil (my understanding is that it mixes better with any residual OE oil).

    Thanks,
    -Derek

I still don't know the answer to this, so thanks! I hope you can find it.
