Ok, just noticed this tonight. 1970 Skylark, when I turn the key ccw, past the "lock" position to accessory position, the Gen comes on dim. Was listening to the radio in the parking lot and noticed the light glowing dim , is this normal or should the GEN light be off ? Thanks

    TrunkMonkey Totally bananas

    Normal.

The light is dim because the ACC position is wired to the regulator and the alternator fiedl, and a "no charge" condition, because the voltage is less than 12v.

Similar when the switch is "on" but engine is not running. The light is 1/2 lit, or dim. After starting both side of the relay contacts are closed and a charge state exists, the light goes out.

Totally normal. If they key is in any position other than off and it is not charging, it will show draining instead of charging.

car is great, finally nice enough to get it out and drive it . I think we put about 4000 miles on it last summer. I drive it daily in the summer unless it going to rain. Won 9 or 10 trophies at area car shows. Best money sent in along time, lol . How is ur project doing?
