What gears would most likely be in a 1968 GS400? Auto on the tree, factory non A/C, 4 wheel power drums. That is all the info I have at this time.
    Thank you.

Should be a 2.93 unless it has the optional performance rear which would be a 3.42 ratio. Depending on tire size. the 2.93 would be about 2,400 rpm at 60 and the 3.42 would be around 2,700. This give you a ballpark to identify what you may have.

Mark...could also be a 3.64 (code ON) or the rare 3.91 (code OZ)

Gueesing since this is a non air car that it might (key word..might) have the 3.64

    Hi Korrie,
Those would be special order ratios in 68. Could possibly have them but 3.42 is more likely as it was on the order form as a performance option if my memory is correct. In fact, 4.30 and 4.78 could be special ordered too. You never know what can turn up when you start checking.

I have found many 68 sportwagons with 3.23 gears. was that ratio offered in a big block GS? i know it was standard in a GS350.
