A couple of quarter size dings is all. Rob modified my crossmember to allow the trans mount to be lower. The only thing this might affect is the pinion angle. I have to check that when I get a chance. I have some adjustable upper arms ready to go in just in case, I may not need them.

You mean like under the dash? This is where Robby installed it. You can't see it unless you look. I might move it later though.

Looks really good Larry. Now you have the best of both worlds. My father-in-law has the GV in his 68 Camaro with a M-21 and loves it. He did have one problem with the actuator going bad, but nothing else after that.

Just got back from the Tuesday night cruise at Oyster Bay. So far, I love the GV. I leave it in the autodrive mode, and just use the foot switch to turn it on and off as needed. it's such a pleasure to be on the highway at 70 MPH@2300 RPM.

Even Robby said there is nothing else to do to my car  The only thing I can think of is a custom cam to really take advantage of my heads. Not this year though, maybe next.

Right on Larry! I picked up a GV and a switch pitch for my 69 Camaro. The 3500 fixed stall and 3.55's is a little rough for alot of street driving. Have fun with it!

Not meaning to criticize or otherwise throw cold water on a GV overdrive but I wonder about their value with the slippage of most so-called "performance" torque converters.I also wanted to put in a plug for the "poor man's overdrive"-that being a 3.08 rear end and tall tires.
I have a ported Stage 2 set up, about 520 horses on tap with a TSP switch-pitch ,a 3.08 12 bolt and 28" tall tires.I can cruise quite well at 2500 rpm or so.With the switch-pitch low end power is respectable enough to blow away street tires at will.Good speed in the gears-over 60 mph in low and about 105 in second. Not a bad combination all coutesy of BB torque. If I am careful I can get over 15mpg per U.S. gallon on the road. Not a bad compromise.

The gear vendors overdrive has a .78 ratio. One of the reasons that they chose that ratio, is so that you can use it with most stall converters. My low stall on the SP (1800) easily pulls the gear. I can maintain 17-20" of vacuum while cruising on flat roadway at 65-70 MPH. With my 3.42 gears and 27" tires, before the GV, I got 15 MPG as long as I kept my speed at 50-55 on the highway. Going to Jim Shiels shindig today. I'll see what kind of mileage I can pull down with it.

OK, just got back from Jim Shiels Buick Bash. Left early, hit no traffic. Kept my speed as close to 60-65 MPH. Filled the car up after I left to go home. 210 miles, 14.5 gallons, 14.48 MPG. Was kind of disappointed, thought my mileage would be better. Drove home. This time speeds were closer to 70-75 MPH, and I hit stop and go traffic a few times as I got closer to NYC. Filled up when I got home. Same 210 miles, this time car took 12.27 gallons, 17.1 MPG. That's more like it. Either the engine is more efficient at the higher RPM's(2300-2400), or that first gas pump wasn't calibrated correctly :af: It is also possible the GV unit needs to break in, and loosen up. Time will tell. Salem is in another week and a half :TU:

While Larry's and my engine are a bit different, we'll be making our way out to Salem next week - Him with the GV setup and me with exactly what Rodster is talking about - 3.08 gears and a tall 28" tire.

I have a fixed ~2400 stall in mine, bigger TA 290-08h cam, SP1 W/ Holley 1000HP carb compared to Larry's KB118, Performer intake W/ QJet carb so he should pull down CONSIDERABLY BETTER mileage than me but we'll see :Smarty:

If nothing else, he will be at least a few hundred rpms lower than me and over a 7-9 hour trip the motor has got to be happier about that. :Do No:

Yes, that will be interesting to see, but you are forgetting one thing Alan. You don't have the correct speedo gear in your trans, so your odometer will not be accurate. If we were travelling together, and stopping for gas at the same time,(Ron and I are leaving earlier), we could use my odometer readings. So, compareing mileage is not going to be accurate.

    Alan,
No double pumpin' on the double-pumper,the top up,and no Barney the dinosaur hangin' out the window and you should be able to pass at least every other gas station  .I would like to see what sort of mileage you can get-let us know.Maybe next year Billy A and myself will drive the Buicks to Salem.I figure it won't cost each of us any more than about three times the air fare!!
Wish I could make it there this year, but it's not in the cards.I am going to Nigeria instead in a few weeks. Am in the process of taking all my shots.Feel like a rabid dog.
    Enjoy Salem :TU:
