I am looking for a gas pedal from just about anything that runs a cable. The 68 and up stuff seems like the logical choice. I need the pedal and hanger (bellcrank), cable (length for a 455), firewall bushing and carb ball-stud. I do not need any kickdown parts. The carb is an edelbrock 800. I have the cable anchor on the intake manifold. Bill
Phone is almost DOA rp455! Cant get a new one for another week +++. After doing some looking around, seems the 1968-1972 (73-4-5 ??) pedal and hanger stuff from a skylark is the way to go along with a 455 BIG car cable for the length. I can cut the 350 downshift cable stuff off or cut off the 400 switch stuff. I can probably source a new cable up here OK, but the pedal and hardware is gonna hafta come from a donor. Also need the hardware and bushings, and grommets just like you were going to do the conversion yourself. The flip phone is almost dead, so I am down to communicating here with pics. SEND HELP! Thanks... ws
Bill, just curious, is there a lot of difference in the 455 and 350 to make the accelerator work? I was able to use the original '64 pedal and linkage for my 350.
Its just me Mike... kinda gunshy after a 66 mustang I had busted a motor mount and the throttle rod got pinched into the WOT position. FMVSS for 1967 dictated a cable throttle and dual master cylinders. Mine couldve used both LOL. Im gonna try the rod route, and maybe a safety tie down on the port side of the engine probably around the upper control arm shaft. The fire wall isnt flat on the 64, and the cable mounts generally require that. I like plug and play these days. The 350 cable is a bit shorter from the cable anchor on the intake than the 455 as well. Ordered a few throttle parts from Pegasus Racing Equipment this morning. Check them out... all kinds of little do-da's for carbs and racing goodies... ws
Have a variety of pedals and loose cables some of the cables are new in GM wrapping. Pm if interested Dave S
