And just as an FYI, those blue butt connectors aren't really the right ones. Your going from a 10-12 gauge wire to a 14-16 gauge wire. What you need is a "step down" butt connector. One side is 10-12 and the other side is 14-16. Like these- https://www.ebay.com/itm/25-Step-Do...624637?hash=item5902b6d03d:g:PIIAAOxyiOxRzvai Problem is, they're hard to find locally.
Searching the part number and basically it's just a smaller wire than the harness wire. Sure it will burn up but it won't be contained inside the covering like the original link. Kinda makes me nervous.
That is the definition of a fusible link, a section of wire that is several sizes smaller than the one it is meant to protect. If you look in the Chassis manual, they state that.
Fusible link incorporates a fire resistant covering. Always use dedicated "Fusible Link" and not simply a standard primary wire of smaller gauge. It is also of a different metallurgy. Primary wire of the same gauge as fusible link will heat up to the point of melting insulation and will withstand more heat prior to actually burning apart, with the high potential of igniting a fire. Over the last 32 years of being in business I have seen my share of roasted automotive wiring. I do so much wiring repair and fabrication at the shop that I stock 10-20ft rolls. Larry
