I have a 81 Olds Cutlass with a 455 in it that is drag race only. What coil springs should I run in it to make the car hook and 60 ft better? Right now im just running the stock springs in it. Would a set of Moroso drag springs help?
    Thanks, Tony

60 fts are 1.53 on a 9in slick. I have south side bars on my car and leave the line at 2200rpm's. I also run the competition shocks. 90-10 in the front ant 50-50 in the back. Car goes 11.20s.
What tire do you run and how quick is your car? What springs are in the front or your car?
    Thanks, Tony

Get rid of the SS bars before they elongate your holes.... :Smarty: They are a big no no do a google search on them. Many a gbody owner very upset from these pieces of junk.

Don't get me wrong they do work BUT the real issue is they have no bushing and will start elongating the mounting hole and eventually rip the ear they mount to off the frame. This = disaster if your moving along nicely when it happens. Im using an adjustable UMI setup.

My car runs 11.0 with a 1.47 on spray it should go mid 9s with a 1.37 I have yet to make full pass was just testing out sum things. I run a v6 spring in the car from when i bought it so it may be original springs. If the car is hooking changing springs may not help alot. What converter are you running? Whats your mph? The 60ft you have now is close to your et.

I ran them for at least 8 years on a 78 Malibu with a sbc motor until the right lower one ripped the frame mount off the frame and the rear end went side ways and elongated all the other mount holes. The car only ran 12 teens @ 110 mph with 1.64 sixty foot times but the car did have like 2000 passes on the setup. I don't run them on my Regal but I did add additional welding to the frame lower control mounts so this doesn't happen again. If you will look at your lower frame mounts, I think you will see that there only spot welded on by the factory.

I truly dont have a combo at this moment. I do a lot of grudge racing so i swap alot. My old basic combo was aBasically all stock motor Stock heads ported stage 1 valves, stock rods, stock crank, Stock rockers, forged flat top piston, Hyd cam sp1 ntake with 850. Around 12:1 Netted 11.0-11.20 all day on nitrous it would go 10.20. I drove it around on the street .Full weight ecxept heater box all stell full interior(60/40) seats no race seats. Car Has full 3 inch exhaust. Has sump tank Race weight is still around 3700. 4.10 gears 10 inch converter. I run all types of tires from 275 drag radial to a 29x11 hoosier. The originnal combo went bad a few years ago and I parked the car came back out this year. With a motor but really dont have much info it was borrowed to me to go racing. (that what freinds are for.)

My car leans to one side and that is why I wanna change the springs. I was curious about putting a set of Moroso drag springs in the car to see if they would help? Anyone out there using them????? Overall I am happy with my car but just leans to the left.
Thanks for all the input guys:TU:

I have a brand new set for the front that a friend gave me. I see Moroso makes two different spring ratings. One with a small block chevy and the other with a big block chevy. These are for big block chevy. Think they are worth trying?
    Thanks, Tony

Hi Tony, I race an 83 Monte and use the BBC front Moroso coils and 90/10 drag shocks. I got a 9" rear setup from Art Morrison which uses their Morrison/Gazan tubular control arms (adjustable uppers). I used their rear coils and shocks. I use an air bag in rear pass. side. Car hooks great. Also no sway bar up front, and I loosened lower control arms and double-nutted them. My car does lean low on driver side at rest becuase of the air bag (full 32psi). No complaints, it hooks 1.48 60" with a best of 10.9 et. I'd recommend those Moroso coils.

I put in the Moroso 47205 front coils in my car, Moroso says they are for G body, 1660-1720lb front end weight range, and 242 lbs/in. I bought them back in 1997 so I'd go out to Summit and Jegs online and punch in the info to see some current pricing.

I have the the springs that are 1720 to 1800 lbs. Do you think these are worth a try? Do you think the heavier spring rating will hurt the car or make the car sit high in the front?
Thanks for all the input guys:TU:

Thank you Sir, very much. I am SUPER courious as to how fast 10-compression Buick 455 Regal's with 3:42's out back with a "509-lift' cam runs generally.

    I really appreciate your time/info.

    YOUR REGAL IS A MONSTER!
