freeze plug size

    does anyone know off hand the sizes of the freeze plugs on the side of the block, want to look for a heater to go in there and wanted to do some looking b4 I pulled the motor.

    2 inch for front and back and 1.5 for the middle.

    Block heater? DO NOT buy a "Katz" brand heater. Their application list has known errors they won't fix, and the product is sub-standard compared to "Zerostart" brand.

    Remember that just because the core-plug hole size is the same as your block, the heater element can be shaped wrong for the application. You need to buy the block heater to fit a Buick big-block.

    The Phillips/Temro (Zerostart) catalog shows a 3100039 which will go into the right bank, center core hole, with the element facing straight up (12:00)

    great info, I will look for this one specifically, plan to use this with the oil heater to help keep my motor warm at the track.

    the generator runs alot cheaper than race gas
