I found the build sheet for my 69' GS conv. when I dropped the tank but it was oil stained from a leaking Hyd. line 4 the top. :ball: Anyone know how to extract the oil from the sheet without losing the info printed on it ? The right 1/2 of it is readable but not the left side.
I had the manual for the mill at work get soaked in oil and what i did ( didnt get rid of it all but helped ) was set it between two sheets of paper and let it sit for 1-2 days, after those sheets were soaked I swapped two more. I did this till I was tired of doing it and it sure helped. lucky you all I found on mine was a corner with the engine code ( already known) and the front seat code ( knew that too ) when I dropped my tank. :af: :af: :af:
Jay are you sure that build shhet is even the right one for your car. I replaced my tank and the sheet stuck to the tank does not match my car.
Chris, I can't read the whole left half of the sheet, The first three digits of the ID on it match my car but I can't read the rest. I'd thought about taking it to a document restoration expert to see what they could do with it. I'll post a pic of it tonight. Jay
Good luck. Some of us local Buick guys need to get together and hang out. My brother has a 69 GS convertible that appears to be the same color as yours. We are located in the Dearborn area.
Cruise nites That sounds like a great idea. We should meet at some of the local cruises, I never see more than 1-2 Buicks at any cruise I've been to. Jammers at Plymouth and Farmington Rds. has a good turnout on Wen. nites. My phone # is 248 363 5829 give me a call some evening and we can set something up. I am going to be putting a timing chain in the GS Sunday and as long as none of the bolts holding the cover on break I should finish it in 1 day. There are 2 GS's in my neighborhood and I'm sure they would be up to it also. What about DreamCruise weekend? we should all get together and find some space to put all our Buicks in the same lot. We were on Old Woodward in downtown Birmingham last year. I didn't like it as much as being right on Woodward watching all the action. Ah yes cars with their tops down...Women with their tops down and carbon monoxide.... What more could a guy ask for. :Brow:
Sounds good Jay. My brother and I have the only 2 ragtops around. There are a few hartops floating around, including one guy who put a 502 Chevy in a 70 GS and ran his yap about how hard it was to make power with a Buick engine. Funny thing is there was another guy who had a stock appearing 70 Stage car who cleaned his clock in a little bragging rights showdown right on Telegraph road. Good stuff there. I believe my brother Todd sent you a PM about the Dreamcruise. We usually hang out in Birmingham too. Hope the chain install works O.K.
