Sorry fellas, had a commitment to attend to, was gonna wait to post till tomoro so i could do it on my computer so I could type easier but I can see some guys are pretty excited, so I'll do it from my phone. Excuse typos, spacing, etc.
Well we got there and the property owner was outside. He stopped us at the driveway and asked if he could help us. I told him that I was a car guy and I heard about the gs and I thought I'd stop by just to see it as I was curious. He asked if we were the guys who stopped the other day and took a picture. I said yes that was us. He said he saw us and doesn't appreciate that......much apologizing and explaining happens here.....
Anyway long story short, it's his sons, it's got a big motor he's got a bunch of money into somewhere. Doesn't know if it's numbers matching. Doesn't know what it is. Doesnt know where its at. It's big and expensive:rolleyes:....
No you can't take pictures. No you can't get closer.....apparently the selling it rumor is partially true because his wife wants it gone, but he's gonna want "a lot" because the "motor cost a lot". I ask, "How much is a lot?". "A lot".......
Thanked him for his time, left my name and number, which I'm sure is in the firepit......sorry fellas......my buddy Ross who was with me just happens to know this guys other son, so maybe can get a price someday......

You tried. It was fun while it lasted:). Something still might come of it.

Guys like the owner's dad are a dime a dozen. They try to sound important, when given the opportunity, to make up for their lack of success in the game of life. "Lots of money"? In other words, he hasn't a damned clue. I'm betting you are the biggest subject around the supper table this evening. He wouldn't give you his son's contact info or have him call yours because he wants to stay in the middle so he can remain important for once in his life. And "no pictures"?

Don’t you know, taking pictures of an old car like that is an invasion of privacy. Then the gummitt will start asking questions and Purdy soon them pics is gonna end up on that ole inter web and after dat happens, well....as we all know...it’s da black helicopters.

I certainly wouldn’t let you take pictures of my sons car. Only bad things can happen after that!!

At least you tried, thanks for posting and letting all of us pickers and hunters live through for a little while anyway.

With some more detective work, you can put together a picture of this family shrub-brother, wife, etc., and with that possibly find out where/what this big money motor is. (Sounds to me like it’ll be some kinda 454 with ‘11 to 1 pop up pistons’). If you can bump into the wife or somehow let her know you might be a buyer, without getting shot at, that may be your ticket.

All is not lost.....Ross called the owner's brother (turns out he knows the brother pretty well). Got basically a more polite version of the same story, with the added info that the brother has a '70 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler 429 CJ he wants to sell (not important to you, but important to me haha). He said he's not sure what all is done to the GS's engine (again, didn't know big/small block), but that it is built pretty healthy but been sitting. Ross let him know that we might be interested in the Buick, so he said he would let his brother know and pass Ross's number along to him. He did say he's going to want quite a bit for the Buick, but that his wife is pushing him to sell. We may get to go check it out in the future, that's about as much as we can do at the moment........

I had a fella tell me the exact same thing on a 70 CST truck,..."son I'd want too much money, it's got bla bla bla",...well throw me a number,..."ALOT",..."So 2500 wouldn't make me the new owner?",.....that fella run back into the house to get the title.

I was pissed cuz I know I left money on the table ha, loaded it up hauled it a friend's house and collected $3500,..was a good day ha

The chase is fun, isn't it? It once took me 4 years to buy a 71 Buick GS parts car that was totally disassembled with the rusty shell sitting outside in the elements the whole time getting worse. "You can't afford it" finally turned into $600 and two trips with the truck. I did it all for a pair of NOS in the box N25 tips and a core bumper but ended up getting a couple of grand worth of NOS trim parts that came with it that he didn't even mention when I looked at it. The engine sounds like it is "super powerful" sitting in the garage for several years.
