Wilko Johnson has Gone Back Home...

I'm so glad he overcame pancreatic cancer and had a good run after doing what he loved doing.

Not many Americans know who he is, though he's quite known in the UK.

I grew up in the Rock and Roll era of the mid 60s, later, when Disco became a thing, I rejected it and found the "New Wave" (what the uninformed called "Punk". Dr. Feelgood was one of the leaders of that scene, and I dug it.)

Living in Iceland, later, W. Germany, and visiting various places in Europe into the 80s, gave me exposure to things sadly missed in the "filtered/corporate" music machine of America.

But couldn't it be said Dr. Feelgood were part of the corporate music machine in the UK?

Never thought of it like that. :)
Now I will need to rabbit hole the UK music biz.

Was it like the USA, record companies, stations, payola and all that mess?

I don't know, but I think payola was more of a 1950-60s thing.

On the other hand, the Sex Pistols were a manufactured band, yet they don't often arouse the consternation of folks undermining their place in music.

Not so much a forgotten cool song, but a music video by a band that has precious little footprint on YouTube. This is fabulous.
