I never talked down to him like he was trash. In fact, I thanked him twice for his input. If he felt like I disrespected him like he was trash, I think he would have stated that when he replied. I'll go one step further. Does anyone think I was disrespectful in any way to Dr. Buick? Just because he is a doctor does not make him omnipotent. There will always be disagreement in the medical community about lots of things. The vast majority of doctors recommend vaccination. You disagree with them don't you Chris? If a doctor came on here and defended vaccines, I wonder if you would have been as polite as I was. I have never talked down to anyone here, in fact, I go out of my way to be as respectful as I can. I don't want to offend anyone, but sometimes it happens anyway. It doesn't take much with some. You are one of the most intolerant people I have ever met on this site. A difference of opinion turns into a blood feud with you. In spite of that, I have always tried to be as diplomatic as I can, but that doesn't seem to work with you. It's your way or the highway. So Chris, I have the ultimate respect for your knowledge about Buick engines. You know how to make a car go fast, no question about it. Our last disagreement was about what you thought my car should be. I know what I want out of my car, and just how much I want to affect it's drive ability on the street. That was the crux of it. What you did was try to humiliate me because I didn't want to follow your dictate 100%, and I had the nerve to tell you so. We went back and forth until I flat out told you I didn't want your input anymore. That solved our problem then. Now I have offended you again by disagreeing with you and others about vaccines. I'm not allowed to disagree? Do I work on my own car? Yes I do. I installed the engine and the rear end. I installed the first exhaust system. I took my aluminum heads and intake off and sent them to TSP. I then installed the iron heads back on and the Performer intake and got the car running again while I was waiting for the new engine. Do I do everything? No I do not. If I had a garage with a lift, I would do more.

As for the internet, yes I have learned a great deal from the internet and re used it, just as lots of people have. Not everything on the internet is true though. You can find anything you want with a Google search. Unfortunately, that includes every opinion, conspiracy theory, or rant on just about anything. Anyone can write a coherent comprehensive page on anything and it can be very convincing to a lot of people, but it doesn't hold up to scrutiny. You have to read a lot of varying information and search to find the truth. It takes work. Most don't have the patience and neither do I most of the time, but if an issue is important to me, I look to read as much as I can on that issue, and then I try to decide what I believe and what is best for me. That sometimes leads to disagreement and I can live with that. I don't have to agree with everything my friends and acquaintances believe to get along with them. This applies to everyone I have ever met except apparently, you. If you think I am taking a swing at anyone who disagrees about vaccines by stating what I believe, well, that's your problem. Get over it.

That is a valid point AC. I do not know for sure whether it was the flu or not. It sure felt like it though. I've had lots of cold viruses. I've never had a severe fever with a cold but a low grade fever is a possibility I realize. This time, I ran a 101.9* fever for 2 straight days complete with weakness and chills. I was pretty bummed out thinking I was in for it, and was thrilled when I felt better on the 3rd and 4th day. It may have been the flu though, I can't prove it, but it can't be disproved either. I like to think the vaccine helped, but I can't prove it. Everything I see and read recommends the vaccine. I do believe in modern medicine and will continue to get the flu vaccine. This is the first time in at least 12 years when I have been this sick. One thing is for sure, I did not get sick from the vaccine. I received it in the beginning of October and didn't get sick until the middle of December

Despite anything, I still believe in the vaccine process. I'll repeat this again. I don't think anyone should be forced to receive any vaccine, but I don't want anyone to tell me I can't get one. The seasonal flu vaccine has never been effective as other vaccinations for common diseases in childhood. There will always be unwanted reactions to any vaccine. You have to gauge the relative risk and make your own personal choice.

Just seems like everyone should have their own choice and it should not be forced upon anyone because of law or policy. This will be my wife's last year as a hospital floor critical care RN with almost 20 years experience. She was forced to get a flu shot for the first time last year to continue employment......now they are talking more shots.
We have decided it is time for her to retire....the shots are the main reason. The people of this community will be losing a very good RN.....but the grandkids will LOVE it :pp

Do you need a hug? Its your car do what you want with it, just never could figure out where that 80hp went that's all? There is a lot of heat and high expectations with being the "Wizard" :TU:

No, I don't need a hug Chris, and thank you, it is my car, and I have what I want out of it, mid 11's and I can drive it anywhere. Never really expected more, but if there is more, I'll find it. This Spring, I will be ditching the switch pitch and going to a fixed pitch smaller converter, and we will see where that gets me.

As far as me being called the Wizard, that came about shortly after V8 came into existence. A member "Johnny Angel" http://www.v8buick.com/member.php?8245-Johnny-Angel gave me that name after he posted with 3 different problems he was having with his Buick. I gave him some advice and it turned out I solved all 3 of his problems. He told me I was a wizard, and the name just stuck, what can I say? Am I a know it all? Absolutely not. I learn something every day on V8. I like to think I have helped a few guys here over the years. I think if you asked anyone who has met me, they would say they have a favorable opinion of me. I feel no heat or pressure as my expectations have been met. I can't speak for anyone but myself.

Many good arguments here but the real problem is........

Years ago when pharmaceuticals did research and produced vaccines it was to help society. Measles, polio, mumps vaccines etc., were all from that era as were most of the vaccines that seriously diminished the effects of microbials that sickened the human body. Notice they are on the rise again today? Hmmmm.......

Today however big pharma is only in it for the money. It is no longer about health care and no one will convince me it is. Their advertising campaigns bombard us incessantly with claims they can help just about anything now.

Lastly lets look at the bottom line. Big Pharma makes more money than the next top ten industries combined and they have worldwide government support twisting our arms, holding our jobs and educations hostage if we don't comply. Producing cures will never happen because there is too much money in the treatment. They have created the golden goose so don't look to them for any real help anymore.

    Funny thing about polio....

    http://www.uh.edu/engines/epi1527.htm

But here's the really interesting part.

Getting a disease(and obviously surviving it) PREVENTS you from getting the disease again! Imagine that!

Note the recent measles outbreak. It isn't just affecting people who never got a vaccination even though that's what the media would have you believe. It's hitting people who had the vaccinations and now later in life have NO RESISTANCE to it.

Big Pharma doesn't "cure" anything. It "treats" symptoms. There's no money in cures. There IS money in scaring the pants off everyone though.

Exactly. Why make a medication that you can take when you get sick, there is way more money in selling and pushing vaccines on everyone vs a small % that will actually get sick. Pharma care owns the politician's big time.

All due respect Jim, but the highlighted statement causes me great concern as using this as a guideline potentially leads to a totalitarian regime where every citizen MUST abide by their governments dictum's. Isn't that what true socialism is based upon? Eliminating the citizens right to free speech and expression goes against what our forefather have fought and died for. We must be ever vigilant so as to not allow further degradation of our fundamental rights and freedom. This is a very slippery slope indeed.

Dr. I trust your thoughts on this subject. My personal belief is that individual genetics are much more of a determining factor in what ailments each person might be afflicted with. Messing with those can cause far more harm to some than good.

Now that's just funny stuff right there. :TU: To paraphrase comedian Dmitri Martin, being extremely thirsty while drowning is quite the conundrum.

The involuntary quarantine of persons with certain communicable diseases is legal and this has been historically legally upheld. Treatment of children with certain diseases, like cancer, notwithstanding certain philosophical and religious beliefs of their parents to the contrary is legal and has been historically upheld. Having multiple minor wives based on religious beliefs is nevertheless a criminal offense for which long-term sentences are being served and legally upheld. These are settled legal issues in the U. S. A. Personal rights and beliefs are not unlimited here and we are all better off for it.

So rounding up Japanese Americans in WW II and putting them in concentration camps was legal and therefore OK with you?

"Separate but equal" was a "settled legal issue" for a good long time too but most people don't agree with that either.

I guess "due process" is a myth many people believe in?
