Flash Auto and Speed Shop AKA Flash Automotive AKA Flash Auto AKA Mark Matuschka

I now have a judgment against Mark Matuschka (Doing business as Flash Auto and Speed Shop) for damages to my engine, but still waiting to be paid.

Update: 11-01-2010 judgment has been settled

When veiwing these cases click the blue box marked (Court Record Events)

I'm not sure what this 2nd case is about, but its intresting that Flash Auto is being sued again

    http://wcca.wicourts.gov/caseDetails.do;jsessionid=03EC63A9783D701111F52EEC 64A7A526.render6?caseNo=2010CV000133&countyNo=41&cacheId=A646B678A78EEDA1EDC3662AA6CB7942&recordCount=6&offset=0&linkOnlyToForm=false&mode=details

Added: The first three photos are from the first engine failure the second three are from the second engine failure. And both engine failures occurred while Mark Matuschka (Doing business as Flash Auto and Speed Shop) had possession of my engine.

I also attached two photos of the crankshaft that came out of the engine, showing the oil holes where never chamfered.

If youre not a member but would like to view the photos, I can e-mail them to you send request to djmeservey@hotmail.com

If you choose to do business with Flash Auto and speed shop or any other engine builder there are some things you can do to help protect yourself.

    1. Demand a detailed quote: parts to be used, who will supply the parts, which parts will be new and which parts will be used if any, projected Hp and Tq a completion date, price and any thing else you can think of that is important to you. Also you should ask how many engines they have built like yours, and how many of those engines actually where considered usable.

    2. After reviewing your quote and you decide to use the engine builder write a contract and in that contract make it clear that any changes to the original quote must be agreed to in writing. And make it clear that you are not paying for or buying an experimental engine and you don't want your engine to be used as one of their research and development projects, make it clear that you are paying for prov en technology. And if for any reason you ask the engine builder to stop working on your engine they must stop, Also in the contract you should demand an itemized bill a accurate build sheet and a copy of the warranty and refund policy.

example: When I hired the engine builder to do my rebuild I received this as part of an e-mail (To me the mechanics of building you a good shortblock are a no brainer. But, I want to make the engines I build a "statement" on the outside as well.) But after the engine failed they then started using terms like experimental and research and deveopment.

    3. Now ask if your new engine will be used as a demo engine or if they will be listing it on e-bay, if so then you should have this in writing, you should also be given a discount on the price and again get it in writing.

    4. Warranty work it should be stated that all repairs must be agreed to in writing before repairs are made this is very important, even if you have to negotiate and pay extra its always best to do it right the first time.

Example: When the engine builder rebuilt my engine it only lasted five pulls on the dyno, four rod bearings wore down to copper they refused to do a tear down, cleaning and inspection, they wouldn't even recondition the rods, they did regrind the crank and install new rod bearings, and then the engine failed a second time, Now I have a judgment against them for damages but still waiting to be paid

Update: 11-01-2010 judgment has been settled

    5. Any communication with the engine builder, or any other communications concerning your engine should be done by e-mail or cell phone. Be sure to save all e-mails concerning your engine. Also your cell phone can be your best friend if you have to go to court, it will give you very accurate times and dates of all incoming and outgoing calls. If you have to call your Attorney, Sheriff, Court House, Better Business Bureau or the Consumer Protection Agency etc. Use your cell phone.

Back in Nov of 2009 I contracted Mark to build me an engine, here it is Sept of 2010 and still no engine. I have been given a catalog of excuses and promises over the last 10+ months. He never contacts me I always have to initiate contact. Have been old I would get my engine is wo weeks for over three months now. This has been the worst experience I have ever had.

you should see if your county can crack the guy's checking account, and get your money.

the county i live in does that on judgments, they take it right out of their checking account.

also, find real estate in his name, and drop a lien on them.

Just want to let you guys know I'm another person taken in by flash auto. My dealings with him would take up too much space so I won't expound on them. So don't feel too bad flash fool there are more of us out there. Everyone of us has had the worst experience of our life and lost good money to him for nothing but promises

I received this e-mail from Poland today,

(I have received engine after 2,5 years of fighting ...
I haven't finished installing it in my Challenger yet, so I completely have no idea if it's good one or not.)

For sure not all parts have been delivered, no radiator and other small parts but I prefer to buy radiator by myself than spend another year on fighting with this guy.
(One conclusion-never again any project with Flash ...)
