The lead that DL was referring to is the car that's now on eBay. He somehow finds these cars before I can!

If anyone is looking a nice solid example of a 1972 Stage 1 Zone Office car, there's one on eBay right now. It's owned by v8Buick board member if you want to contact him with questions: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?291038-1972-GS-Stage-vert-Another-zone-car

here's the current eBay ad: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buick-Skylark-Gran-Sport-Stage-1-Rare-Buick-GS-Stage-1-Convertible-1-of-only-66-made-/121494330599?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1c49a05ce7&item=121494330599&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

I've been tracking these '72 Stage 1 Zone Office cars for four years now and have verified that at least 11 of the 25 still exist today. If you know of one of these cars please let me know by posting here, sending a private message or sending me a direct email at buquick@comcast.net

I want to spread information and raise awareness about these cars so I can find out how many still exist today. I do not post any personal info about anyone or their VIN. I actually do not track who owns the cars because the ownership often changes. I just want to prove that the cars still exist, in any condition, from rust bucket to perfectly restored.

Here are the body numbers from the cowl tag (not the VIN) of the 11 cars I've seen so far:

    010120
    010123
    010127
    010128
    010131
    010132
    010133
    010134
    010137
    010140
    010142

I'm still looking to see how many of the 25 orange Zone Office '72 Stage 1 convertibles are still around. If you know of one that isn't listed above please let me know.

Good work Gary! By looking at your numbers that you have gathered, it looks like they were all built at the same time. Maybe they were all built on the same day ?

Yes, the invoice date for 21 of the 25 Zone Office cars was 8/26/71 (Thursday), one more was invoiced on 8/27 (Friday), two were invoiced on 8/30 (Monday), and the last one on 9/1 (Wednesday). By the way 8/26/71 was the earliest date (first day) that a regular production '72 A-body Buick was invoiced. So those first 21 were likely built on the first day of regular production.

I'm not sure if you can get it to open but there is a pdf attachment on the first post of this thread that summaries some information about these cars.

So it looks like even though my car was invoiced on 8/30 it could be the lowest body number Stage 1 convertible built (010120)??? Or do you think there is a lower body number??
