I took my skylark to A local 1/8 mile race track tonight for the first time.It was the last race for the session and I done the test and tune.My car has A stock 350 with A TA 212 cam and it done ok for what it is.I only made two passes with it,I drove it there, hour and A half from my house,so didn't want to press my luck,I know you can brake stuff at A track.
Don't leave us hangin, how did ya do?! How did you like it? Were you nervous the first time at the lights white knuckling the steering wheel? Can you expand a bit more on your experience there?
It’s an eye opening experience for most. Everything feels “fast” on the street. Then you get a time slip.
Im sorry for leaving y'all hanging,it was late last night when I got home. It was awesome, what A rush.yes I was nervous ,how I would do and not to break my car,I drove it there. Here is my time slips, second one can't hardly read it.
According to the DragTimes App, that track is 2000’ above sea level. The barometer was pretty good at 30.12, 59.4*, 69% humidity for a density altitude of 2426’ at 7:10PM. That means your car would perform better at sea level under perfect conditions.
According to the App, your 1/4 mile would have been 15.29@ 88.99 MPH. Corrected to sea level under perfect conditions, that figures out to 14.85@ 91.66 MPH. Of course that is theoretical, but it gives you an idea.
Hey thanks, I don't guess that's to bad for A pretty much stock 350.If I had some more track time ,I could probably do better.
One thing you could improve is to use better tires. Your 60' is bad, you must have spun. 1 tenth improvement on your 60' time can be worth 2 tenths or more off the 1/4 mile ET. Get some drag radials.
Hey Dwayne, yep, its addicting for sure AND a blast For sure drag radials, I have 275-50-15 on 15x8 Buick rallys. Don't bother trying to get traction with street radials and a Buick V8 Get traction first, then work on the next link in the chain, its a blast, but the money starts falling outta the wallet
Hey thanks Mark,I bought A pair of 8in Buick rally wheels off A member A few weeks ago, probably will put A set of drag radials on them this spring. I think I'm hooked now,and could see it becoming A exspencive hobby if your not careful.
