Dirk your rivi' is looking all right!:TU:

Newbie- Really nice work on that Invicta. Love the burnt orange paint. Very original. Tom's roller rockers will give you some umph! in that engine bay, you might want to add them to the list. BTW- What's your name?

My .02 on the filter issue - I use the NAPA gold series (Premium filter)they are $7+, but whats another 3-4 bucks for quality & piece of mind?

Keep up the nice work and keep the pics coming. :beers2:

That's going to be one sweet ride when you're done! I'd be happy to get my LeSabre rolling reliably. I'm planning to do the air bags and disk brakes as well. The 61's are my ABSOLUTE favorite, with the 85-87 GN's a close second.

  9. Project Update:

After a few years of the project being on hold I have started back to it. Thought I would throw up a few progress pics.

Have the air ride suspension in and controlling. All body panels are set. Working on dash and wiring harness is 90%. Changed all lights to LED. Need to put the exhaust on and she is ready to fire. I have all new glass ready to go in. All the Dynamat sound deading mat is in and have the carpet standing by.

Since I put a TH400 Switch Pitch tranny I am going with a floor shifter. I removed the old column shifter and used the space for a custom LED bar style tach I made to fit in the place where the old gear indication was. One of the picture I try to show this. I will post pics when it is lit up once I fire the motor.

Lots of body work in my future.:bglasses:

Through all these pics you can see the before, during, and more during...... Here is to the after! :beers2:

Thanks for sharing the updates Rob. Looking like a very nice project. Similar plans for my 56 just a few steps behind you.
Who did the rebuild on the posi? and where did you source parts for it?

Oil filters (and oil) are topics that come up here often. I have personally never had a problem with a Fram oil filter, but there is a huge consensus on this forum that Fram filters are evil. Enough members have had problems with them that I now will not use them. I stick with Wix, which seems to be a brand that members like and my local parts store stocks.

  13. 56buickboy I took the posi unit to a retired guy that did it for 30+ years. After a few hours and a few beers he said he could help me out. He rebuilt it and sourced the parts for me for a hundred buck or so......

That was a few years ago and I have driven by his shop a few time since and the place has been sold :(

Love the 61 bubble tops, beautiful job, looked for years for one, settled on a 64 Riv.
On the oil filter thing, my 2 cents, while managing a dealership, the service mgr came to me one cold January morning and said he wanted me to see something, we walked into the shop, and there were 3 engines laying there, all with bearings out on the crankshafts. The common denominator was the orange paint on the filter... Never had one on site since then.

Man thats great work. You have an eye for detail. You took a turd and made it look like a diamond.
impressive. (im no expert like the rest of the guys on this site I only got my car last year and it was running great until i screwed the cam) I'll be replacing it soon). Good luck. And fantastic work. Pinder

  16. Yeah i ditched the orange filter after all the posts. Thank Pinder!

Well its official....I tapped the key to turn it over and check the newly installed wiring harness. I my surprise she roared to life on the first tap of the key. She had been sitting for 7 years on a fresh rebuild and I didn't get to a point to start her before putting the project on hole. Actually startled the crap out of me when she just fired right up.

Big milestone pasted.....new focus on getting her on the road again. http://www.v8buick.com/images/smilies/naughty.gif
