Sooo. I bought my car in 2007 and even though I do not drive it much I have not been able to get next to anyone willing. Well today that changed. My car is the 1970 Skylark in my pics. 350 4 barrel. all stock except for headers 3" exhaust and electronic ignition conversion. Sounds way better than it runs.. It does have a shift kit in the th350 and a good rear end with 4.10s Anyway... Kill # 1 I am sitting at a red light minding my own business and a early 90's mustang gt 5.0 with a 5 speed pulls up next to me and shoots me a couple revs. I look over. He has his son in the front seat. I hear the kid say " is your car faster" dad says "yes" So I shift from drive to low as I hear him increasing the rpms while watching the cross light. light turns green and we go..not crazy at first. kinda feeling each other out. once we get thru the intersection he hammers it.. At this point my rpms are up already so its good. I hammer it and put a good fender on him. he bangs second for rubber and creeps up. I hit second and pull again. At the top of second he is just behind my door and gets off the gas. then I get off... We stopped at the next light and we give each other a thumbs up. He turns left and I go straight... Kill # 2 Must have been in the air today. So after running my errands I start heading home again minding my own business and in my rear view mirror I see a 67-69 camaro crawling into my trunk. The road opens up so he pulls along side of me. i notice the 327 emblem on the fender. we ride for a few miles like this in traffic. must have been 6 lights we rolled thru that were green...are you kidding me....not a single red..finally a red,,, as we come up on the light it goes green. now we are doing about 20mph. he downshifts, its a stick,,he pulls and I end up at his rear wheel well...I slam into first and make up some ground. when I hit second we are even. at the top of second i have him at my door...he lets off so do i. we get to a light and he says his car is running like crap and he needs a new carb...excuses excuses. still fun for me.. Almost #3 The kill that never was. Think i would have lost this one...lol Almost home,, Look in my mirror and see a new challenger coming up on my driver side.. I notice the RT in the grille... I figure everyone looses so its my turn.. The guy never gets closer than my rear wheel well,,this goes on for about 4 or 5 traffic lights...Finally, next light I stop short. He pulls up and rolls down his window and says "man that thing sounds good, to good for me" I laugh and the light goes green and he turn left.... Today was a good day! New motor is 2 weeks away,,,Then the fun begins :TU:
Yep with the 350 lol Pretty sad for them. lol No way for BG this year. My focus is Norwalk next year. 11.50s or bust!
