First ever Buick, and it's... Interesting!

Hey all, new here, just got my first Buick. And she's a bute. 1961 Special Skylark. The body is rough, but as far as I can tell she's 100% complete down to all four Turbine hub caps. Actually no, I'm missing one chrome trim piece for the base of the C-pillar, but other than that I think I have everything down to the 185 HP badge for the air cleaner.

A previous owner had some body work done, looks like the whole car was skim-coated in Bondo and repainted. I'm in the process of stripping all of the old plastic filler off to see what the metal is really like underneath. The vinyl top is totally gone.

She's not running at the moment. The person from whom I got the car says she has fuel, spark, and compression (I got such a good deal on it that I haven't even looked into it yet) so there's probably a timing issue somewhere.

I've been lusting after one of these aluminum 215 motors for years. Always wanted to drop one into a Fiero (duckandcover). But having the complete car I'm not going to do that.

Hey Derek, Thanks! I'm in Salem, NH. I think this is going to end up being a fun family project. I'm hoping to find some 14" steel wheels for her (to paint red and put baby moons on), as I have a good set of 14" tires from another former project. Once I've got the body straight I think it will chug around in primer for awhile looking mean before it gets a new shiny coat of paint. I want sidepipes. :p

Oh, and a Predator carb if I can find one anywhere. Another oddball thing I've always wanted.
