    That’s a good idea.

Think you're right John, the same cam cleared stock rods / stock stroke. But gotta finish it now.
7,500 wouldn't be a problem with this solid roller, good rods and the s/p without any added stroke.

These bent wires worked perfect for gaging rod to lobe clearance.
    .035, .045, & .060 dia's.

So Mark, how's it running now?

now I don't understand why you guys are screwing around with bogus con rods. at the sema show, www.awacomposites.com has con rods capable of nitro engines. only $18,000.00.
what's the old movie that had a line in it to invest in.....plastics. :D

I have that tach in my car and I remember when I first went out with the new motor the engine hit the rev limiter @ 6400 before the tach hit 5700 so watch that. BTW the engine was still pulling at that point at least it felt like it. I was waiting for the in dash tach to hit 6 grand that was where the engine made its power at.

I put in another tach with a shift light and never used it again. I bought the in dash tach brand new from Poston.
Now the other tach with shift light does not work I guess you just shift when the valves float or try to hook up the in dash tach again. lol

When I am doing 70 mph I am at 2200 rpm with the 4 speed auto and the lockup convertor.

I remember taking that trip to D 42 every other weekend driving @ 3000 rpm all the way there and it was about an hour trip there and back home. Then make about 6 rounds running up to 6 grand each and every time. This was before the 4 speed trans.

    Thank you Jim!
Those are my new mufflers, 17222 Ultra Flows, they're quite a bit noisier than my 17749's.
They almost sound like Flowmasters, guess I just gotta get used to 'em.

Went out to do some investigating with my inspection camera to see if the oil band is exposed at all at full lift on the Morel roller lifters.
Went thru the PCV hole, not easy to get a good angle, plus I had to rotate the crank, didn't get any conclusive evidence if the band IS exposed at full lift, guess I'll run it, then when I get the aluminum heads I'll pay more attention like I SHOULD HAVE upon initial assembly:mad:
First pic is the lifter at full lift " I think". Second pic is on its way down.
On a good note, the plugs cleaned themselves from being all black and fouled from crappy gas. Still have a new set to install when I get the new heads:cool: IMG_3355.JPG IMG_3356.JPG IMG_3357.JPG

I would get the lifter to max lift and then run the oil pump with a drill. Or pull the intake and do the same. Something ain't right. I'd rather find out now instead of sweeping up rods at the line.

If you pop a valve cover, you can use dial indicator on top of pushrod side of rocker surface. Your cam is similar lobe height to mine I think, .365?

But, I ran those same TA lifters you have there. Never had any out of position with lifter bore issues.

Here's a pic of my hydraulic rollers next to the solids I'm going to run. Oil hole is in the same position.

Besides, I would bet TA made sure those lifters fit and would work without problem. I did have a roller wheel pin try and work it's way out though........

Geez, I hope my lifters hold together:eek:
How long ago did you get the hydraulic rollers? IIRC you had a roller set up awhile before me.
Im considering MAYBE going to solid rollers, but its winter now, so the car sits:p

Im hoping the aluminum heads come out before spring, then when I switch heads, I'll get a better view of whats going on, OOOOOR If they don't I'll pop the intake off anyway to find out why the high volume pump made the lifters quiet down.
The car is sitting anyway till spring.

I had no problems at all with the Morel TA lifters. Went down the track about 30 times in 4 years. They were noisier than the Johnsons I have now, that's about it.

Oh i gotcha. I guess I'm in the mindset that the TA heads are never coming out. I hope for the sbb community that spring is a reality.

Mark, I bought my roller setup in 2012. Probably close to one of the first.
I only put abt 1,500 miles on per year, so solids won't be too much maintenance.
