I'm trying to lighten my wagon a little more and want to make a fiberglass rear bumper. Question? Has any one made a fiberglass bumper in your shop etc. What material did you make the mold from?
    Thanks

Well, if you find one.......let me know. I have a friend in the same situation with a 72 sportwagon. VFN doesn't make one, but he is going with an all fiberglass front on it soon.

I made a nose for my regal out of fiberglass. It was to replace the bumper and bumper fillers in one peice. I used owens pink 1 1/2" thick insulation sheet glued together. I put on car and sculptured what I wanted. Coated the whole thing with masking tape and clear coat. I then covered that peice with fiberglass cloth mesh and non drying resin in several coats until adequate thickness then covered with fiberglass cloth fine mesh and drying resin. It was as much work as it sounds but was a one off peice that will not be seen other than the one I made. Your part would be way easier to make with the same process.

Make the mold from fiberglass. Clean the bumper well, tape over the bolt holes and wax it heavy. Apply fiberglass to the bumper and use wood or paper rolls to add stiffness. It needs to be made so that it can be cut into two pieces after it cures so it can be removed from the bumper, and then bolted back together.

I've also seen where someone has cleaned up the inside of a bumper and used it as the mold. It would probably be a good idea to lay it thin so you can peel it out eaiser.

    Bill,

Doug Hecker, Bruno DiPaula along with Bob Luchesi had a company from Ohio do up parts for them the company is WS Racing, I don't have their number or address, Doug's number is 973-743-5838 he sould have any additional info. They had done, deck lids, bumpers and hoods for the '65 and Luchesi had a one piece complete front clip done for their '70 along with doors. I know that Doug and Bruno shipped out the metal body parts and the guy made up the mold and parts. Price wasn't too bad either. I'll try to reach Doug also myself on this, otherwise give him a call. They had these parts made within a year so the comapny is still around.

UPDATE: Spoke to Doug tonight the number is 440-998-6341 WS Racing. Currently they are making a set of fiberglass doors for the 65 Skylark GS . Two sets are being made at $200 per door. Also Doug is waiting on two good used fenders for the '65 to send them out so fiberglass fenders can be made. Their quality is very good. I would figure on the more parts made the lower the price (to a point of course).

70 - 72 front and rear bumpers are $140 each. Not sure if one covers all or not...

They have hoods and doors too from 65 - 72.
