I know my t-type doesn't exactly apply here, but it is still a regal. I went to test and tune at Keystone raceway yesterday to try a get a grip on the new LED lights. I dropped 6 tenths!! My t-type is 140,000 miles new and my only mods are a Red 93 chip, K&N, hotwire kit, and adjustable fuel regulator. I'm glad I layed down the 13.45, I was starting to get embarrased. These cars do rock!! But I haven't sold out the BBB yet. My 455 project is under way! :TU:

I'm impressed!! I see you had the better 60'. I guess those Drag Radials do hook. Just think Dave, if I didn't have to load coal at 4 AM, I could have been there with the poop car.

    Ratroaster,

I have had my GN since new. It can be frustrating at times but I really like the car. I am not a supertuner kind of guy. I just like to go to test and tune to play once and a while. It would run 12.7 at 107 with stock turbo intercooler etc. Should run mid to high 11s next summer in street trim with the methanol injection etc just dialing in all the stuff I already have installed.

That being said I have alwayse wanted a big block car. Years ago I had a GS 455 but never got to drive it and sold it to a friend to be restored. Recently I have built a pump gas big block Cutlass with OD, electric in tank fuel pump, and electric fans. It is more on the street side of street strip. PS, PB, Heat, AC & cruise full interior like my GN. With me, a 3/4 tank of fuel, and no spare it weighted 3840. Timeing, carb, suspension, gearing all need to be optimized yet. She ran her maiden voyage the other night, 12.6 @ 109 with full exhaust no slicks or working posi. When I get some weight off and get it dialed in she should also run some mid to high 11s.

I dig both cars for their individual attributes, character, sound etc. I think the BB is more fun to drive but maybe its just the newness has not wore off yet. Maybe I am eccentric but I can work on one while I drive the other. I say build drive and enjoy both of them.

Yeah, the plan is to keep 'em both. I became a big block addict with my Skylark. The A-bodies are very cool, but growing up and through college I've always admired the Regal's styling. In college, in the mid 90's I played in a punk band and two of the other dudes in the band drove Regals. We did so many road trips in those cars, almost every weekend we had a show. NY, PA, OH, WV, and Maryland........have alot of good memories doing donuts before we practiced and just stacking the cars full of gear for a show. Its kind of strange because at the time I was not a gear head and I never had any idea that I would be into racing. I wish I could find my bass player's '84 champagne Regal Limited.........that would be sweet!! Needless to say, I sold off the Skylark to buy my T-type, but I saved my 455 for the big block regal project that I've wanted to build for some time. Both cars are light blue and have the limited package. Almost identical clones of one another, however I'll have the best of both worlds. big block torque and just the overall coolness of the turbo. Here is a pic of my turbo:

Too cool. I never noticed you are not that far away. I was at Salem this summer and usually get to Norwalk once or twice a summer. I don't have a truck & trailer or lots of room around here. Its really just not feasable for me to add that stuff to my fleet or to find some way to keep it out of my driveway. Anyway I have thought about getting a dolly for next summer so I can drag one with the other. Should get some looks.:) I've had visions of roasting some rat and then saying hell I don't need to run you again shoot I'll bet I can beat that thing with my tow vehicle. ;)

    Dave,
I thought we were going to do some backhalving to the winter beater? If the grey car doesn't get a 455, I got a 350 that will fit in there. I'd like to have a 350 in mine next year. Maybe with that th-200-4r I got under a tarp behind the barn.

    Dan,

Not sure what a NP A-833 OD is. But a well built 200-4R has given me zero problems for the first 1200 very hard miles behind my 509. The stock one behind my heavy T-top, widened stock steel wheels, extra braceing 12.7 107mph GN has also given me zero problems for the first 100,000 miles.

They are light weight and efficient especially with the conteverter locked up for getting what power you have down the quarter mile. They have good gearing. The overdrive and lock up are great for saving mileage and engine wear going down the highway. Even the price for a good strong street build is down to $800.

PS I am not mad or trying to bust your arse just shareing my experience and what I have learned about the potential of these trannys.

Trust me, I'm in the same position, only worse. I rent. I was at Nats at Salem also.............I had plenty of passes. Next year should be a blast again!

I'm just bustin' on the Kelsh's since my Regal is a stick. (We all know each other) Its a New Process (Moper) A-833 with fourth as overdrive. Probably not real strong, but fun!!!!!
