Good day. I have a pair of one piece long tube headers that I would like to get coated since the engine is out of the car. I was looking at Jet-Hot, but seems expensive for their extreme coat 2500 at $300 per header. Anyone have any feedback or experience with them? Any other recommendations on similar companies doing the same coating?

That's the going rate, a few are a little cheaper but jet hot has a killer rep far as I know, its definitely worth doing tho

Jet Hot is #1 in my book.

Coated a set of iron exhaust manifolds and an aluminum intake about 10 years ago, and they look perfect today.

And I drive the car a lot.

I used JetHot on a Very different application. I had them coat the exhaust pipe on a Honda XR250 four stroke dirt bike. I’m thinking I had the bike for around 15 years after that. I was very pleased with how the their coating lasted.

It never turned colors (maybe the dirt bikes pipes never reached the same temps that a V8 does). What did stand out was how I never had to deal with chips and rust (the main reason I had it done). That’s especially amazing considering how much dirt, mud, rocks etc the front tire throws up onto the pipes.

As I remember the cost was around $200 back in ‘95.

I would certainly use them again. Mark

I'll be using them on my TA shortys as soon as I get the test fitting done to make sure they don't need a massage anywhere.

I had this done on a set of headers. Between the sandblasting and cost it would be about the same for a new set. Plus selling your old set.

It didn't help the shop i used sucked. I wouldn't recommend the crank shop in vt to anyone..

I used them on my Stage 2 long tube headers back in 2012. Definitely worth the money. Be aware that some of the less expensive companies do not coat the inside of the headers, only the outside.

I would go Jet-Hot. In the past I'd always used Calico Coatings. They are still in biz and, like Jet-Hot, were one of the first companies I became aware of who did this.

Bought an uncoated set of headers from Kenne-Bell. They usually came chromed, but I think they used Doug Throley headers and sent them out to be chromed. I actually had good experience w/ a previous set--the chrome held up nicely.

Not so good w/ Calico. Had the uncoated headers sent directly from K-B to Calico. Had them do ceramic coating on outside AND inside. Coated headers could NOT stand up to the Chicago road salt. Rested pretty quickly.

When I contacted Calico they put the blame on me for not doing periodic "maintenance" on the headers--cleaning off the rust w/ steel wool, frequently. Hell, I thought the point of ceramic coatings was not having to "baby sit" the damn things!

I have not heard similar stories about Jet-Hot, so I think they are worth the money.
