I like Kindig and Bitchin' Rides because their level of work is something I'll never be able to accomplish, but can aspire to. I like the Martin Brothers and Iron Resurrection because their style is like my style, and I could actually pull off most of what they do, albeit with a lot more difficulty and time invested. Them joking around and whatnot is how it's been in every shop I've ever worked at or been the boss of. You try to make good times, even when working. Me and my guys flip each other crap all day long.....Kevin is the shop foreman, and I've been that guy for years. I guarantee that he can build and fab with the best of them, but he's worked his way up so he doesn't have to. I bet he gets in and gets his hands dirty when needed, and gives advice to the younger guys. Someone has to make sure stuff is getting done and on time....he's the man that does. I'm also really enjoying No Prep Kings. Pretty much no drama, just drag racing.
I actually have a "friend of a friend" who just accepted a job offer to go work at kindigit. It'll be interesting to hear some inside info.
I love Iron Resurrection. It proves that you don't have to be A-holes, scream at one another, or belittle everyone, to have an interesting show (fill in the blanks... Mark Worman, Richard Rawlings, Paul Teutul Sr. & Jr., etc). Maybe Iron Resurrection is just "made for TV" but the entire crew seems to get along, respect one another, and genuinely have fun and take pride in their work... and they do some great work! Saw them at SEMA this year. Seems like a great bunch.
its Graveyard Carz for me! I love Mark Worman's "shtick". The Ice Man! lol I crack up laughing. I'd venture to guess he' probably similar to that in real life
Liked to watch Iron Resurrection, and Graveyard Cars. I also enjoy Bitchin Rides but not as much. I’ll have the channel on for noise while I remodel the inside of the home.
Back in the 80's&90's they had shows that were what I call "informative". A dummy like me could actually learn something from. I've gotten to the point now where I RARELY even watch TV anymore. I don't miss it either! Keith
Me too.. Finally that awful Fantom Works with everything is so hard to fix with the stupid faces and stupid music is gone He tells everyone straight out he fixes 50 year old cars but is "stumped"?? by issues???? on a 50 year old car??? Con artist and scam period. For him to not be by his Father on his last day's either means money meant more or he was going to be sued by the production company by not being there. Forgive me because I don't know the real facts but sue or not your Pops and family always come first.. His workers left because the stupidity of the show and the greed of Dan.
this show was ok but I never understood his ridiculous parts bills , he did a brake job and some other minor work on a car and the parts bill was like 13g lol ...how??
Because, the ""1970 Chevy or so"" disc brake pads that are available at every single parts store in the world. "ARE SO HARD TO FIND" according to Dan the Scam and the puzzled stupid faces from him and his workers as to where are we going to find a set of these from the ""100,000 available"" I guess fools the poor people who actually trusted this Scam.
Maybe he’s the guy who buys the $800 sending units and $1200 fasteners. He might have ‘Billions and Trillions’ on speed dial... Patrick
Coddington's place was a joke as far as I'm concerned. I've seen a few of those cars & believe me they weren't all they were cut out to be. They were all on a schedule which usually cuts into the quality of the final product/outcome & corners are cut, etc. Same as Barris & others. It's NOT unusual to see 6+ inches of plastic filler to make a certain curves, lips, contours or whatever. I'm sure there are others who will agree.
Although I will respectfully disagree with you on Boyd's cars, Tom, I will go along 110% on Barris. I never liked his cars. Seems like he just tacked on as many gee-gaws and doo-dads that he could to a car with no respect to it's natural body lines, and made them as garish as possible. He and Liberace were most likely friends. You can get crazy out there with customs and body work if you have an eye for style, take Ed Roth for instance.
Huh, I never thought Barris was even in the custom car hobby. "well you know how I mean it". I thought he was just a gimmick prop maker for TV show's that just like you said that tacked on doo dads like the muffin pans on Sony & Cher's Mustang hoods. The Munster Mobile was the closest thing but was just a coffin on a rail. Did Barris do most of the building or just the design drawings?
See if you can check out Rust Valley Restorations on the Canadian History channel. Mike is crazy car buddy of mine. He has over 400 cars in his yard, even a few dilapidated Buicks. They are a bit of comic relief for sure as car shows go. Here are a few pictures from when Marcel (All GS) and I visited him last year
