Emblem placement as "proof " of authenticity...

    FWIW,
The one owner, old lady owned, original paint, survivor '68 GS Riviera I just bought has the emblems "centered" and has the dealer invoice to prove it's for real. Real, Real Real......I think one has to be a little circumspect about emblem placement before calling some other guy's car a fake. Human beings were working the line, and different plants are known to do things differently. To say that every "real" GS Riviera you've seen had the emblems "lined up," is to say that all the rest you saw, you called fakes. Not good enough to me to call "proof." Heck, my friend who works at the OKC plant said it's not uncommon to have a truck come out with GMC badging on one side, and Chevy on the other. Dan

I can't remember if it was Adam (Smartin) that posted pictures of the fender emblems from a Centurion, that showed how far off the positioning was from one side of the car to the other.

I'm reminded of all the 80's GM wagons I would see that had mis-matched tailights from the factory.
One Olds, one Buick or Chevy etc.
