Hey, I think I sold you some Buick AM/FM radio dial faces! Welcome!
Thanks everyone and I'm glad to be a member. Here are few of the radios and 8 track players I will be restoring in the next few months.
Shoot me an email if you are in the market for 68-72 Buick skylark am fm radios or 8 track players. email@example.com
call or text me at 480-235-1964 with questions. Thanks, Jim
Jason, I'm cleaning + testing various radios here to move out. I noticed on many the push buttons are frozen or the tuner knob doesn't move the needle. I found this nifty article on the web that fixed them all!
It's a shame Photobucket ruined this thread.
Agreed! I would love to see the pictures! Does he need to upgrade his photobucket account?
Havent checked in on this thread in a while. I'll have to take some time and fix it.
Great! I'm trying to figure out if this is something I can do (with my limited experience), or should I ship it out to the pro's.
I was able to get my antenna replaced with a near perfect one, radio performance improved quite a bit but it's still got a lot of squealing and static.
After reading this thread, I realize it very likely hasn't ever been gone through.....so it's time to "git her done"
Thanks for looking into the photo problem!
Just picked up a 72 AM/FM radio at a swap meet and bench tested it. The AM side works but I'm getting nothing on the FM side. Is there anything I can check or try to figure out what's wrong with theFM?
Wow, looks like the pictures are back!!!
Larry, try giving the bias adjustment pot a turn back and forth. Sometimes just giving it a turn back and forth scrapes off the surface rust and bring it back to life. See if you can get a voltage reading off the output transistor
Thanks Jason. I'll play with it some more.
Well, I was able to get it to play one FM channel but that’s all. Voltage on the DS 501 is 1.660. Any other suggestions?
Sorry if this is a dumb question Larry, but do you have a good antenna connected to it?
I assume it's good. Just bought it from Autozone to use to test the radio. I really find it odd that it will only play one FM channel and that is 104.9.
Thanks for all the help Jason!
OK, I tried another new antenna and got the same result, only plays one FM station. Can anyone recommend a radio repair shop that they have done business with? Just need a repair, not a restoration.
Call Robert at Precision Stereo Repair in Utica NY. He can do just a repair for you.
Talked to Robert at Precision Stereo today. Going to ship ,the radio to him tomorrow for repair.
