Does anyone know if the 708lb/ft turbo nailhead setup that Buick wanted to make a production option has ever been reproduced by anyone, and installed in a driveable car?

Seems like it really enhances what the Nailhead does best, make stump-pulling TQ!

Sorry I can't help you Scott, but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind posting any more info that you have on it. I've never heard of this one before and it would be neat to hear a little more.

    Why not build one?

I did alot of research on turbos earlier this year when I was considering a twin turbo chebby powered 79 AMX for my budget racer mutant. While the project fell through I did learn a ton. From looking at that setup pictured in Hot Rod I think I could biuld that using the late 70s carbed turbo Riviera setup with a modified exhaust and a custom built spacer to adapt the turbo to a single 4 barrell intake. The turbo from the Rivi setup would be more responsive as well as have a wastegate but would not flow as much air and instead of side draft Webers it would use a quadrajet. I think I could build it with the help of some friends that actually can weld. The problem would be I have about 0 time right now and all my money is going into my new 65 Riviera GS and the 80 Monte Carlo mutant racer and after I graduate I will have the time but not the equipment and the friends that can weld will be elsewhere. Thought I'd through the idea out there for the consideration of those of ya'll that have time, money and talent to do this. If you need me to do turbo math however I can do that, I purchased a turbo calculator so it can tell me whats best to run on this if someone gets serious.

    Thanks,
