Okay, I managed to make it back from Stanton without much fanfare, but I whipped on the ol horse a little hard and the muffler is gone. I had this muffler replaced last fall before Labor Day and it is burned out/ blown out.

The truck is an '84 Ford F-350 Dually, 460 emissons exempt, C-6, Dana 70 with 4.11 gearing. Current setup is stock manifolds, 2 1/2" head pipes Y'd into a single 3". Looking at the possiblity of headers, true duals, 2 1/2" or 3" w/ balance pipe. Give me some feedback!!!!

So how close is this from my past. 1986 F350 crewcab dually 4X2. C6, 460. Used it to pull NASCAR Late Model car to the track and as a parts truck to get all the stuff we used to destroy evey weekend.

It had a stock exhaust system on it for the first year or so. It choked the engine severly at 6000 ft here in Denver et al. So a trip to the exhaust shop arrived during the winter. It go a dual system from the stock manifolds back. A 2.5" system. It worked ok but I wanted more than a small increase in power. They did sound great at highway speed! Ran that system for about a year. Then was cajoled into a 3.5" single system from the 2.5" mandrel bent y-pipe back.

WOW! What a change in power and throttle response. Especially with the racecar and trailer attached. And better fuel economy too! Now it only had the 460 in it that I built for my current truck. That would have been awesome to tow with.

At the time both systems were custom made for the truck by an exhuast shop that ran a car at the same track. Now I think you can get a exhaust system in kit form from the likes of Banks, ATS, etc. Most of the Turbo Diesel parts mfg's have done some work on big-block gasoline engines at some point.
