Not sure if this is the right section, but oh well.

I am planning a engine swap this summer and don't really want to pay a shop to do the exhaust. I was in Fleet Farm (best auto store in my town) and I saw some flexible metal exhaust tubing. Is this any good from a performance standpoint. If I were to make a cheap exhaust out of this will it totally kill my flow. I was thinking of dual exhaust. Anyone ever attemt this jerry-rigged exhaust?

I've done some odd exhaust repairs in the past. I'm not sure about the performance aspect as I was just trying to fix the exhaust on these occaissions.

Is this the linked stuff, or the corrugated stuff?
Either way, that stuff is good for a quick repair on a hard to find exhaust part. It will not last long - you'll replace it soon.

You could try ordering the correct parts from a parts store. It will be cheaper than having a shop do it, and cheaper in the long run than the flexible stuff.

You might be surprized at a shop's price, though. Often they will bend their own pipe. Not the best for performance, but better than the flexible stuff on all counts. It might even come out cheaper than buying the correct, pre-made pipes and installing them yourself.

    HA HA!
When I read the title to your thread, Fleet Farm was the first thing that came to my mind! Gotta love Fleet Farm!
I used that stuff as a cheap fix on a beater Pontiac wagon I had.
Truzi is correct, It won't last long.
Best to spend a little more up front.
    Cheap is expensive.

If you aren't worried about going all the way out the back you can do what I did the first couple of years. Assuming you have headers, recuders to 2 1/2" two straight sections 2 1/2" straight exhaust pipe, think they come in six foot lengths. Then two Summit Turbo mufflers, $19.99 each. If you want to get out from under the car get two 2 1/2" fourty five degree pipes and cut the straights in two pieces and exit just in front of the tires at a 45* angle. That stuff your talking about won't last any time and is very restrictive.

Thats what I plan to do soon. Its just the a temporary solution once I get my engine in and am totally broke. Also I am not sure if the cops like side exhaust to much in my town.
