Ran across an interesting site which by looking at the tests says something about the evolution of speed in 4 place muscle cars. www.cccvette.com/1966musclecars.htm Not all models were tested but if you look at the 0-60 mph times for say 1966 you will see only the 427 Biscayne , the L69 Olds ( tri-power 400), and the 426 hemi made it into the 5 second club. Buicks did not make it until 69 and 70 and all makes and models performance tails of after peaking in 1970. It reflects the results of what I was seeing at the local strips from 65-70 except I do not remember seeing a Biscayne run here. The big problem then was tire spin--no hook up!
