Ever feel overlooked?

  1. If you guys think you are ignored ...... try pulling a full size 77 Buick into a cruise  . Ive been abused by everyone from the cub scouts to parts vendors and was even accused of bringing a non cruise vehicle into a cruise by a guy who was driving a 88 Celebrity wagon :Do No: . Sometimes I want to name the car Rodney after the late Rodney Dangerfield ... someone else who got no respect .

Yep, been there, hated that. Try showing up with a Skyhawk.

    "Nice Monza, dude."

    "What is that?"

On and on and on. Blah, blah, blah.

Your right about the older chebbies! Go to any big swapmeet and you can practically build a old chebbie right there with all the parts and rolling bodies for sale!

But every once in a while it goes right. As I rumbled into a local little show last year I hear a little boy say "'dad, WHAT'S THAT?" The dad says "son, that's a Buick GSX." I felt like Shane (check out the movie youngin.)

    Car Shows

People just don't like Buicks. From my experiance in this hobby, Buicks are mostly owned by older men.Don't get angry, this is a fact. One of the things I like about this site is the wide age range. It's good that younger guys and girls are into Buicks and not the more popular cars. The older guys do not want to take thier Buicks to car shows other than the Buick shows. I don't know why, that's just the way it is. I've owned a series of Buicks and the only non Buick show I won (second place) was with my 1970 Ford LTD. The general public has been bompbarded with advertizments for decades that Buick was the " old mans car ".Second only to Cadilac. Pontiac, Chevy and even Olds after 1966 have been pushed as the fast GM's. Buick,as we all know, was quietly outperfoming ALL the others, but they were not advertized that way. Nailheadina67 can verify this, at least in WNY. Park a PERFECT Skylark in the same line as a not so pretty Chevelle or GTO and we all know which car comes in fourth in a class of three. I don't care myself.I've given up. I take my LeSabre to a show and enjoy hearing, " My grandpa had one of those ". It's OK with me. I'm a grandpa now. Love to all.
