    255's or 275's?
On my Special, I bent the lip up for more clearance. Using vice grips, I went halfway in and bent it up maybe 15 degrees. Move the vg over about 1/2"and bend the next portion. Repeat until the whole top edge is bent that first 15 degrees or so, then do it again bending a little more. Helps if you draw a line where the bend will be so all those little bends line up. It will only get you a 1/2" of extra clearance, but if the tire hits it it will be a soft rub instead of cutting the tire.

  5. Walt,
those are 255/60/15's on custom 15x8 rally wheels with the extra inch added to the inside for a total of 5 1/4 back spacing.

it sure looks like a lot of people are moving onto the Cobras then the high dollar BF's, I myself did too. I think the big tire manufacturers like Good Year and Firestone are missing the boat in not re-creating the old raised white letter muscle car tire of yesterday in today's existing tires. They look great, and they ride great!

I couldn't agree more! I've been saying this for a while.

Imagine a set of Wide Ovals or Polyglas GT's or even redlines using today's technology?

And not $350 a piece, either. Make it so us common folks wanna buy them - and can afford them at the same time.

I'm currently using Cooper Cobras as well.

I do wish the Cobras came with the old school white block lettering they had in the 70s and 80s. My Dad and older brother used to run them on most of their cars. The new letters are ok, too, but just not as "vintage".

totally agree Lucas, I be happy with just cooper get rid off the cobra. just keeping it simple with small letters. They could dominate the muscle car market and leave the rest in the dust!

  16. Believe it or not the tires in the picture are 10 years old and still look like new. It might help that the car never sits outside and is always in a climate-controlled garage

Hooptie. Where did that word come from anyway. My neighbors were calling the Riv that while I was building her. I just smiled not sure if it was a good thing or not. LOL
