I hate to seem like a know it all idiot, but poor spelling just bugs the crap out of me. I mean, some of these words are really 4th grade level. I just don't feel confident bidding on something when I see spelling like that. I can understand keystroke errors, everybody does that, but these look completely deliberate. Maybe I'm just naiive. :gt:

  2. Not to mention:

This seller has tons of positive feedback, but I also would tend to not bid on his stuff. This just gives a bad impression to me too.

Ken - Lousy spelling and/or grammar do make for a 'tough read'.:Dou:

Ironically, some of the smartest kids I went to school with, either had terrible handwriting or couldn't spell for beans...or both!! So, it isn't necessarily a matter of intelligence.

Unfortunately, the above is an exception - not the rule.

    reading, writing

during the late 70s & 80s , the ministry of education , using the devine wisdom of some overpaid consultants , here in ontario , canada , decided to stop teaching the students phonics, spelling, & grammatically correct writing . students were encouraged to write the words as they sounded to them , with no concern for proper spelling nor proper grammar . educators did not want to inhibit the thought process of the students by forcing the teaching of spelling & grammar .
so what we got was a generation of students who could neither read nor write properly , nor were able to sound out unknown words . my son was in this group but fortunately , we taught him how to sound out words, how to speak & write proper grammar .
students advancing to high school & college were forced to take remedial english classes to improve their language skills .
