Or have 2 keys - aka poor man's (mine) remote start, just like my cassette that plugs into my phone is my poor man's car sound system/hands-free/satellite radio. But then driving junk, maybe nobody would steal it anyway plus a manual trans. these days is pretty good insurance nobody could drive it anyway.

Actually I don't think he said he used remote start I guess just started and went inside.
I was "exercising" my Reatta once and forgot about it for like 6 hours....idling.....got hot! Next time I started it it ran for 5 miles and the crank sensor quit....likely from me cooking it.

Was he in a handicap zone or what? I haven't figured out why he shouldn't have parked there. maybe he should have shut it off which would have been the smart thing to do but maybe it wouldn't restart? Just curious as to why you would confront the guy. But hey I drive a diesel truck too, which according to Hugger makes me a prick too.

I took it as if he was literally right the curb. I see it all the time. I wouldn't agree with 99% and yes, they are fast. In the late 90's saw the Dodge/Cummins guys going through the exact same learning curve the Turbo Regal guys had in the late 80's (ironically both 6 cyl's) exc. instead of simply a daily driver, you could pull a 20k lb. Trailer all week & run low 11's on the weekend.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

Diesel trucks dont use a lot of fuel if they are just sitting idling. When I drove north in cold weather we were told to never turn our company trucks off even at the hotels due to the cold weather would make it a pain the the ass to start the next morning. The fuel would gell up. That said I have a problem with people parking so close that its filling the store with smoke. That just seems to be rude or a jerk. I would also say when we park running trucks for the night we made sure they would not disturb people in the hotel or be overly close to the rooms. I don't think its a good idea to reach in anyones truck or car and turn it off with all the people that are crazy and carry guns today. Eithan is a big man but no man is bullet proof. Its not worth starting a fight over if they are just sitting idle not bothering anyone.

The curb, by the doors, of most businesses are painted yellow and designated as a "no parking zone". Not sure if that was the case here, but still only an a-hole would park where you'd block doors or let exhaust roll in the door.

I've had my duramax for almost 10 yrs now. it's bone stock. best truck I've ever owned. had 43k on it when i bought it and it just turned 208k.

that being said the diesel guys are usually idiots with their tow mirrors and light bars.

there was a kid in pa who constantly drove through a village billowing black smoke. he was ticketed a couple times and then arrested for disorderly conduct.

once emission inspections come around for diesels these idiots will screwed. Billy Bob will regret sawzalling his 2k exhaust system off and throwing it away..

It was either fire lane or pickup lane. Either way didn't belong there.....running and inside the store.
Where are cops when you need them?
.....pulling over people with no front tags on and following Krispy Kreme trucks....

Just calling it as I see it, I'm sure you don't drive 20 or 30 over the posted, tailgate, drive with the absurdly brite led light bars on ALL the time, try to race, Rev and brake stall every time you come to a redlight, brake stall while "rolling coal" thru crowded parking lots, etc etc and if you do these things like 99% of the ones I come in contact with down here in the dirty South do,...well then yes you would without a doubt fit my definition of prick. Now if you drive a diesel like a sane person and do none of the above then my previous comment doesn't apply and would therefore land you squarely in that remaining 1%.

And btw I'm well aware of what they are "capable" of doing, I've actually hopped up and modded several for people because their money Is green and will buy me more hot rod Buick parts. Even tho they'll probably end up pissing me off. But 99% of the ones you see that belong to guys who think they are fast are nothing more than mail-order tunes with egr and exhaust fluid deletes with a cold air box and 23 gauges telling them things they don't even understand.. ie slow as syrup

I've always heard that it's not healthy for diesels to idle for long periods, or at least not at low idle speeds, due to low combustion temperatures allowing unburnt fuel to wash down the oil in the cylinder walls.

don't forget the jack ass bumpers and the 6" exhaust that is literally about as thick as tin foil and costs 1k..

Plenty of people would apply most of the comments in this thread to the hot rods we drive...Noisy, stinky, drive like idiots, etc....lots of hate and stereotyping in here for a different breed of motor vehicle enthusiast.

Truth hurts, I don't mind the fact that they mod them or do whatever they do , what I mind is they way they automatically become ignorant fools and do the things most of them do
