I have a G body regal that has a 305 in it, i want to either put a buick 350 into it or a buick 455. i want to make it a solid street motor but dont want to over do it and make it not practical to drive. Any sugestions on what engine i should build cost/weight/performance wise, which one is the best route to go with? What all changes will i have to do to get the engine in?

Joe, I am in the process of doing an 80 Regal with a 455. I am doing body off and a whole bunch of other changes. There are other project that are complete or quite a bit along in this V8 Regals section. Just look at all the threads, and not just the current list that displays, and you can see quite a bit.

I would go with the 455, but I am prejudiced on that, and I think the conversion is moderate to hard depending on your skills and what you want to end up with. Minimum of engine, trans, and probably front suspension, and cooling system. Good luck with whatever you decide.

the a.c./ alternator bracket off your v6 will bolt right to the front of your 455. i left my power steering pump on the 455, and just pulled the metric fitting for the high pressure line off the v6 pump. once installed into the 455 pump the line hooks right up. i used a set of Hooker headers that had one pipe run outside the frame i had out of an old gran sport. they fit fine. i cut the motor mount pads off the electra donor car. left them bolted to the engine mounts and welded them to the frame once i got the engine sitting where everything fit under the hood. with no engine mods, q-jet ran 13 flat/106mph. mileage was in the 7-8 range. lol. surprised a couple of vettes though!!
