Body is out of sand blasting and car is in the chassis shop now. Car was super clean except for driver's quarter. Couple pics brother Lance sent me.
Front fenders have been modified for the altered wheelbase, moved about 8" forward. They actually tightened up the wheel openings 3" as well to fit the diameter of the tires better, which isn't normally done but looks sooooo much better than stock. Still sitting on the "stock" chassis for the body mods, although the wheelbase has obviously been stretched at this point. Next the rear wheels will be moved approximately 7" forward, then body will be taken off the chassis and the full chromoly/carbon fiber chassis will be built to the body and custom altered wheelbase. EDIT: that's a twin turbo GN powered Cobra in the background....
Older brother is at the race shop today (Jay Childs Racing) and sent me these pics of the Bryant billet crank and Keith Black Stage 10 aluminum block. Sent some chassis pics, too, but can't get them to size right...........Hopefully making passes by the end of the year.
Final cubic inches are 518, it's a 4.375 stroke and a 4.310 bore. They've got the body mods for the altered wheelbase finished up, ended up going forward 8" with the front and 7" with the back, so the wheelbase has actually been stretched from 115" to 116". That's Jay in the engine compartment.
Nice.....I truly didn't even pay attention to it while I was there. So much other stuff to look at and I just figured it was a regular old kit car with a 351 Windsor in it.
Couple more pics....chassis fab and getting the engine placed. Blower is HUGE. Older bro's phone camera is about as good as mine, apparently. Sorry for the small and fuzzy images. I've got lots more that I haven't posted because they're too small.
Ahhh yes......The Good Ole Potatoe Cam!! Those were the good old days! And then driving to a Photo-Hut or Photo-Mat or local Drug Store. But at least you had a "REAL" picture in your hands. Something you can thumb tack to a wall or keep on your dash. Oh....and that blower is HUGE!!! Looks Great!! Doing an awesome job on the metal work too. Looks Factory!
Man, he's pulling out all the stops on this car... (See what I did there?! Dunt, dunt, TING!) But seriously, what a badass piece!
That thing will be suh-weet! I don't normally like Mopars, but that thing will be a monster! It would be interesting to watch it make a couple of passes once it's finished. Always wanted to build a motor like that, never had the brains or the money, guess I'm just going to have to live vicariously through you guys.
This is the race shop's last main project. I watched it go 6.8s it's 3rd outing still getting dialed in while I was up there this summer.
