I'm adding electric trunk release to my '71 Electra. I purchased a NOS "Release - Deck Lid Electric" kit that was described as fitting my Buick. Most of the kit fit; electrical, switch & plunger. But the release mechanism that bolts over the latch on the deck lid was wrong. There is another kit on ebay that is supposed to fit but has a different part number. I'm very hesitant to buy another kit when I only need one part. And the ebay one is overpriced. The kit I bought was part #981735 Group 12.243 The kit available on ebay is part #981802 Group 12.243 See HERE I attached a couple pictures of the release mechanism & how it does not line up with the latch. The "finger" that is on the trunk release piece does not line up with the cut outs in the deck lid.
Hi Goldboattail, I have added this option to a few Rivieras over the years and if I remember correctly, you have to cut out that little tab that is between the two small holes or dimples nearest the bolts to the right in your first pic. Hope this helps. Clark
