This isnt quite a Kill, but its still a good story...

My brother's friends have this 88(??) Monte Carlo SS that has a 350 in it and they think its like 500 horse, runs low 12s, the best thing since sliced bread, etc...

My brother and i have always known it wasnt that fast though and we didnt really wanna race them in the electra and like hurt their feelings

Well anyway, he always talks real big, and so one night i took the electra out to our cruising spot, and they took out their monte. And so we all go out, have a good time, meet with people, chat it up, get in a few scuffles, and then cruise back home...

On the way home, i pull up next to him, just gunning it a bit. Just quick on and off the throttle to get his attention. Then next thing i know we are going like 30 in a 55 (no other cars around, im not an a$$hole in traffic) and he guns it and i notice he isnt just playing around anymore. So, i nail it! We quickly gain speed and i notice im starting to (slowly but surely) catch up. I'm like crapping my pants because of the hilarity of the situation, and so is my brother. Before i got ahead of him though i had to slow down because we were coming up on a bad area for cops and i wasnt about to get pulled over. So i dont know if its quite a kill, but its definitely a good story.

When we got back we pulled into Sheetz, thats where we usually meet up before and after we go cruising. I was told not to mention the race to them when we got back, and its funny because they never mentioned the race either.

We went over to their house a few days later to help them with a garage they were building and i heard the one saying, "I think im gonna do some upgrades to my car. IT'S A SLUG" Those words, "It's a slug" were music to my ears. It was him realizing his 'built up' 350 was no match for a stock 401 nailhead in a car that, with both me and my brother in, weighs right around 5000lbs!

And they both know my car is a low 16 second car. So if you ever come across a maroon monte in PA, dont be afraid to race! ;)

But it was all in good fun, they always give us a hard time about our buicks, and we give 'em a hard time about their chevy's as well.

PS - Sorry if the story is too lengthy or doesnt make sense. I'm a horrible story teller!

That's good! Reminds me of a year or so ago. This dude that used to work with us always bragged up a storm about how bad his S-10 shortbed truck is with a 4.3 Vortec ,5speed and 4.10 posi gears . I had this '66 Riviera with the 425,400 SP trans and a non posi 3.07 rear. This Riv had been parked for a few years and I just got it. The Quadrajet secondaries were stuck closed. Innoperative. He pulled out of work one afternoon in the S10. Me right behind him in the '66. He pulls out and stops to do a 5 grand clutch dump, while I am right behind him. He spins his tires and I floor the Riv and drive right around him ,pass him and pull away for about a 1/4 mile. I could see the front of his truck bob up and down as he was banging the gears, but just couldn't catch up. I didn't hear much S10 bragging after that.:error:

HAHA thats great. I love stories that end with the braggers being beaten!

They always eventually get what they deserve.

Cool I live in Pottstown and I know exactly what you mean about people who build up their car more than what it really is. I used to go to Universal Technical Institute and this guy I knew had a Nissan Maxima with a body kit, fart can, spoiler, and a hood scoop(doesn't work). He said it would go 13 seconds with slicks. He took it to Maple Grove and we watched him go 16.10 on street tires without spinning the tires now I may not be an expert on tires but how do you drop 3 seconds off your 1/4 mile time by putting slicks on a car that probably still has no modifications what so ever.

Maybe he meant that was a 13 second 1/8 mile time...

Yeah, some people are just full of themselves. Like, almost like they think their car can go faster by putting on stickers and decals and fart cans and hood scoops. At least it wasnt a roof scoop. That always cracks me up when people put scoops on the roof of their cars.

Ricers and posers... I got news for you. Your car wont go faster just because you think it will! :Dou:
