No, you will never get your money back from adding FI. Don't care.... it runs better.

Same argument for overdrive transmissions or even for buying the car in the first place and spending all kinds of money on it. Will I get my money back? Probably not. Some care about that. I never did and never will. The enjoyment I get from driving and showing my car off is all the payment I will ever need. I'm with Doug, I don't care.:)

If its an "investment", clean it as good as you can and then shrink wrap it and store it away for the day you plan to cash in. You don't want to be driving an investment with the chance that it can be a total loss if some jackazz T-bones it leaving it as a totaled.

If its a hobby, build it the way you want it to run/drive and enjoy your hobby for the amount of $ you're willing to spend on said hobby.

TexasT Texas, where are you from

I'm not trying to make it into an investment. I just want to get the bang for the buck as it were. I am trying in my head to get to a place where $1000-2000 out lay gets me something better than a well tuned qjet. As far as the of trans, I can see the outlay and how much more enjoyable a cruise on the highway might be with the thing not spinning at 25-4000 rpm.

I guess I just haven't experienced the hard starting and the other problems some must be experiencing. I know a qjet is a wondrous thing with what appears to be magic inside similar to an auto trans. But with some Time and patience I've done well getting it to start/run.
Cars are a passion. I do drive em. I also work on em and experienced the late nights getting it back together so I can drive it to work the next day(though that has been a few years). I'll never understand owning a vehicle I don't drive or at least have a plan to drive "one of these days".

Here is how I would break down cost for Fitech or Sniper.
$800 to $1500 for FI unit.
$200 to $600 for fuel pump and fuel tank
$150 to $500 for fuel lines, filters, and regulator
$50 for trips to the hardware store for crap you can't find anymore
This is for bare bones getting it up and working. If you have to fix other stuff because it is not good enough to handle the install, well you should be fixing that anyway. Remember "Roadkill" put a Fitech on the Corvette they stripped and beat the livin hell out of it and it still ran.
