Hi, looking for some advice here if thats ok. I am in Australia and looking at an Eelco 2x4 manifold for my long term project for the 401 Electra. I have done some research and apparently these manifolds are good. The problem I have is sending my hardearned to Eelco equipment's man Martin. Has anyone dealt with him? Paying for a manifold is one thing, but flying to the US to sort a problem is entirely another.

If it is Russ or Matt Martin you are fine- can you tell us which Martin?

His first name is Martin from Eelco Equipment. That's what's on the email.

There where several more modifications than what is previously mentioned but the Eb24 was indeed the base.

I can be contacted directly by email.

A few years ago there was a somewhat lengthy discussion of Nailhead manifolds here. The consensus was that the best dual-quad manifolds for the Nail were (in no particular order) stock, Edelbrock, and Eelco. The worst was Offenhauser. This was based on flow rates. I wish that someone had made an exact copy of the stock 2-4bbl manifold from Aluminum. I'd love to have dual quads on the Buchev with the factory air cleaner. I do have a stock manifold, but I hate weight. Aluminum would be awesome!

    Hi,

I believe there are a few AL copies of the factory dual quad manifold.

I have a X-casting which is taller and different centerline measurement, 7/8 farther apart if memory serves.

Search this site for X-castings as some info about the different factory parts.

    Regards,

I have an X casting that is nearly identical to a stock iron in dimensions. Was probably a near final prototype. The weight difference is not much. The stock dual iron intake is not that bad weight wise.

Nev, go on ebay, there was Eelco for sale on there not long ago.

  15. I had no idea that dual quad manifolds had gotten so expensive, last time I noticed they were about $300, they cost more than that now

  17. Early to mid 90's . what does a cast-iron dual-quad manifold sell for now?

Lately they're in the $550-$700 range.
The EELCO 2x4 shows up once in a while for $695.
I bid on one of the aluminum X manifolds a few years ago, but that guy in California out-sniped me on it! Somewhere around $1150.

i as messing with ya Bob..yes they are high, I paid 300 for my first one complete with carbs and air cleaner and mint in around 85...

450+ is what i see..3 years ago i found a chrome factory intake for 200 the guy thought it was mopar..he was at a swap meet and cleaned out a shed..he was a junk man..and it was just iron to him..i had to pay it because there was some old grey haired homo trying to buy it out from under me...so i just paid what he asked..and got it..that old guy disappeared..if i could have found him..i had some thing to say...and then had to carry that pig out almost 1/2 mile to the truck...suuuuucked

by the way..the valve covers sold in front of me for 50 bux..the alum ones...i was on the intake and another guy was on the valve covers...he got the better deal..

In around 1988ish, I sold a complete rebuilt 401 by someone unknown but never broken in , a 66 425 I took apart in pieces but all there, a TH400? " not to sure had to be a replacement, it was on the 66425 but it only had 1 terminal on the kick down solinoid, a solid lifter cam brand new and its lifters, with adjustable rockers, " I think the adjust nuts were green color if I remember correctly, 2 factory AFB 4 barrel intake manifolds, a Q jet intake manifold and carb from that 425, a factory duel quad intake with 2 brand new AFB's with linkage that I kept from a brand new Offy duel quad that I traded for the factory one, new TRW sourced main and rod bearings, 425 rings, all .005 over, new rod bolts, new oil pump, new steel geared timing chain set up, new fuel pump and I know i'm forgetting alot more all for "$300:(
