I finally got around to attempting to install the Eelco Finned Aluminum Valley Pan Cover. Fit nicely, but when I went to put the factory dual quad intake on, the valley pan bolts sit up to high. Anyone else had this experience? I was looking forward to the engine dress up. Oh well back to steel.

    thanks Dan

Intake risers would give you the clearance you need, but then you may have a problem with hood clearance. What's a guy to do?

The options are few: machine the fins under the intake to clear; use a steel valley cover and have it chromed or powder coated; use an aftermarket intake such as Eelco, Edelbrock, or Offy.
Or go with intake risers, however they have been shown to reduce power on a dyno.

I ended up having to grind the fins down under the intake. It was alot of work to only expose about 4-5 inches of finned valley pan.

It happens with all the finned valley covers except for the 1x4 manifolds.

Not made by me. I'm too busy to make other brands. Get your facts right before you point a finger.

I bought them from ebay (buickboneyard) who is now not an active member of ebay. I posted the whole story on a few different boards and several people said that it was you(including this board). Its true that I do not have facts, just what several people have said.

How much space do you need to make them fit? Can anyone put a picture of what the problem is? I want to do the same thing, But if there is something I can make in my shop to correct the problem before grinding them. :TU: that would be better for me a least.
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!,:TU:

There is a running thread on the engine build for the data; I think the engine will be ready soon. I would make a 1x4 but I am overwhelmed at the moment with current product. My machinist and god friend past away a year ago and it has been just me and my wife making all the parts you see. It's hard to get the time just to drop in here and say hi. Keep an eye out; someday I would like to make one.

you need to cut down the fins under the heat exchanger in the casting. I have never had a problem with any manifold other than the stock 2x4.

I don't know why but I seem to be a common scapegoat. I didn't make them but I have heard about another set here in portland and a friend of mine in seattle got a set. It is my understanding that they where made by a guy in texas who casts parts in mexico. I think he is also making a bad copy of the buick valve covers as well. I have made hundreds of sets of valve covers; I hope I would know how to put the letters on. Honestly; it is too much trouble to change the pattern and a big risk to make something with the weiand name.

My valley cover is made by Eelco, and polished by Eelco. No where did it indicate not fit the 2X4 intake. Beautiful piece but useless.

Does anyone have a picture of what they are talking about? I would like to get one but I want to make sure that it is something I can machine with my Bridgeport before I install it? Instead of GRINDING IT. It it just in one place that it needs to be done or is it on 2 both sides and how much do you need to take off to make the clearance?

I hope to get around to a trial reinstall of the valley cover in the next month. I will take pictures.

Thank you for the offer to return and grind the cover; I may take you up on it.
